HUNGER GAMES: THE WINNER

This is the final day, and tensions are at an all time high. It's not uncommon to see surviving players running from safe space to safe space. The dead and fallen watch in amusement or jealousy as the final competitors try desperately to make it just a little bit longer!

By the end of the day, though, the game is over. There can only be one winner.

THE RULES

You may not ‘kill’ someone while they’re naked. (If any "bits" are exposed.)
You may not ‘kill’ someone in their cabin, the bathroom, the showers, during a Grotto party, the infirmary, or in the cafeteria.
You may not ‘kill’ someone in front of a teacher. This is largely so that staff doesn’t catch onto this definitely reasonable and well-organized game created by sensible children.
If you actually hurt the other person in your murder attempt, you’re out of the game. The person who was injured takes your knife, and it’ll be as though they killed you.
Feel free to play out scenes of the kills, or attempted kills, on this post.
You and the other player decide the details of how the kill happened! The only information we will provide is the approximate time of the kill and who was killed.
Originally, player activity during the game was going to play a role in success, but the system ended up too complicated. However, when we get down to the final ~10 survivors on Friday, activity and strategy will count a great deal when it comes to who wins.
If there is an IC dispute over a kill, for instance, if Clarence got too violent and it was determined that he'd broken the rule, then your character(s) will need to go to Diego Morales and Clementine Decourt to have it settled. However, none of the kills officially listed on the Hunger Games kill posts will be changed. They are set in stone. Disputes are merely for roleplaying purposes. Keep this in mind while playing out your scenes!

First blood: Sophomore showdown! Hazel emerges victorious over Pippa!

Morning: Mercedes manages to kill Tess, only to have Quinn immediately stab Mercedes as she lets her guard down for the attack. Quinn and Hazel notice that a charm has been placed on their knives, and the writing on the plastic changes before their eyes. They are now one another's targets.

Mid-day: Sy finally manages to get Sylla as the morning ends.
then around lunchtime, Levi emerges from hiding and stab Laurel. Meanwhile, Xavier kills Sy and hopefully doesn't get a swirly for his trouble.

Evening: Levi sneaks up on Xavier late in the day, and Quinn finally tracks down that murderous sophomore, Hazel. Levi and Quinn look at their knives, and watch the names magically shift again: They are now one another's targets.

The last kill: It's an epic Azurcrest party senior battle! However the events unfold, one thing is clear: Quinn is dead, and Levi is the champion.

Is he crying? He's crying. 400 Dragots (I went back and counted and it's actually closer to ~600 since after Diego's post, but Levi doesn't realize it yet) is a Big Deal to him. He's never had that much money to his name in his entire life and holding it all in his arms at one time is overwhelming. Even if 200 of it is in sadistic puzzle boxes contributed by a disgustingly wealthy twins with a sick sense of humor. Whatever. He'll work at them later.

He pulls out his own shark pincher toy from the pot and waves it around in the air as a show of victory before swinging it down and trying to get a nip at Diego's butt.

Was there even supposed to be a victory speech? Too bad, you assholes are all getting one.

"When I put Meg and Wiggles into the pot, I promised them I was coming back for them. And I did. But what drove me to keep going and push harder..." He swings the shark toy back around to point it toward Cecil, squeezing the trigger to clamp its jaws at him for emphasis. "Was the thought of treating this cute-ass, hardworking boy to a Real Date worthy of him. So thank you, everyone who contributed to the pot to get me to bust my ass and eat day-old food out of a pencil case for it, and thank you, Diego, for putting this all together. And, Oglesaplings, you and these puzzle boxes are assholes but I still love you.

"-- Anyway, I think the important message here is that it's okay to let your Thirst drive you if it's driving you to victory, and people will look at you weird for running in an unpredictable zig-zag pattern everywhere you go, becoming a permanent fixture in bathrooms and the cafeteria, and being naked more than necessary, but sometimes that's what it takes to survive. Also, Azurcrest is da bes', so come cheer for us at the game tomorrow. The scouts are gonna be there and we're gonna be trying to impress them so if you didn't get a chance to see Hunger Games: Catching Fire over winter break because you were watching Frozen instead, that's the place to be. Okay, thanks, bye!"

Knowing how much the games had meant to Levi and how hard Levi had tried to win, Cecil had already been over the moon when he'd learned that his boyfriend had come out the victor! Hearing the acceptance speech, though, leaves him unexpectedly overwhelmed and blushing noticeably and eager to speak to the other boy. At the first chance he gets, he catches Levi by the hands and smiles at him warmly. "I'm sorry I asked you to make the chocolates with me," he says after a moment, still red and a little awkward and saying the first thing that's come into his head, "I guess that ruined the surprise?"

He punctuates this bad joke with a soft laugh before pulling Levi into a firm embrace and getting to what actually matters. "Congratulations, Levi!" The fact that the other boy is too sweet for his own good, that he doesn't need to impress him or spoil him or win him over with dates that are 'worthy of him', can wait until later. He's happy for him and he wants him to know that.

Levi refuses to let go of his stupid plastic shark toy so if Cecil takes that hand, Meg(alodon)'s coming along for the ride. "But I liked making chocolates with you," he responds, chin resting on Cecil's shoulder as he wraps his arms around his waist. "Maybe I should go to culinary school and open a bakery instead." Those chocolates were a goddamn atrocity. Their only saving grace was that Cecil mixed the recipe so they didn't come out tasting how they looked. Levi definitely needs to stick to Quidditch and (not real) child murder.

"Wanna go through our pot together later? Keep whatever you see that you like."

Cecil is entirely willing to wrap his hand around Levi's hand even when it's holding a toy shark that has, on occasion, been a public menace in their cabin. He can't help grinning at the sight of the silly thing, really. It doesn't distract him, though, and he soon forgets about it entirely as Levi moves in closer. The mention of culinary school makes him laugh and he turns to press a kiss against Levi's temple, teasing gently, "Maybe you should. You're sort of a natural..." He might've gone on elaborating or asking questions or teasing the other boy about this (very) unlikely future in the culinary arts, but what he says next stops him, catching his attention and prompting him to draw back just enough to look at Levi with two dark, uncertain eyes.

"That's sweet, Levi. Really sweet. But. That's yours; you earned it. And you don't need to..." He trails off, not knowing how to say this exactly. He doesn't want to be ungrateful, but want to take advantage of his boyfriend's generosity either.

Levi blinks owlishly when Cecil pulls back, not fully understanding his reluctance. He knows Cecil is modest and doesn't feel comfortable accepting elaborate gifts, but he also views them as a unit and so whatever belongs to Levi clearly also belongs to Cecil. If he saw Cecil rummaging around in his messy desk drawer of questionable contents in search of extra quill tips, he wouldn't even bat an eye. It just seems natural to go through the prize pot together so they can both get what they want; Levi has no use for all that chocolate or a figurine of a girl riding a horse. (He'll probably re-gift that to Kurt after the novelty wears off, though.)

After a moment, he unloops his arms and taps Cecil on the center of his chest with the shark head. "Ours," he states, pulling the trigger and making the plastic jaws clamp down on the fabric of Cecil's shirt. Levi doesn't want to force Cecil to accept gifts, but he also doesn't see his offer as gifting. To him, everything in the pot is both his and Cecil's. Cecil doesn't have to take anything if there's nothing of use to him, but he doesn't want Cecil to feel indebted for taking something he likes, either. "It's ours; I earned it for us. You're not obligated to take anything, but what's mine is yours. Plus there's, like, a million things of chocolate in there."

Surprised when Levi draws back and when he clamps the plastic shark's plastic teeth onto the front of his shirt, Cecil looks at his boyfriend with obvious confusion. What he has to say, though, softens his features immediately. There's nothing that he has that he wouldn't share with Levi, but he's never actually articulated this thought before even in his mind and hearing it aloud now from the other boy...is sweet. And worth more to him than anything in that pot. After a long moment of silence, during which his dark eyes lower and a hint of color rises in his cheeks, he smiles softly. Then he nods.

He sets one hand atop the plastic toy still biting his shirt and looks up again, teasing gently and feigning shock, "Even the shark?"

Levi purses his lips to the side, making a show of his deep contemplation before he clamps the jaws multiple times in quick succession as if he's trying to get it all out of his system. "Even the shark," he agrees, playing along, and lets go of the handle so that it dangles from his shirt by its chompers. "Her name's Meg. Be good to her."

Cecil laughs softly at this, looking at Levi with plain affection for a moment before he moves to unclamp Meg's jaws from his shirt. He makes no move to use the toy, though, and just looks at it. He remembers when Levi had first gotten it during their sophomore year and how, for weeks after, the little shark had terrorized feet dangling off the ends of beds and popped up on shoulders to encourage people to take a break from their studies and all that. It's silly, but it leaves him feeling nostalgic.

Smiling warmly at Levi, he presses the toy gently back into one of his hands and takes the other. "I don't have anything half as fun as Meg," he adds quietly, "But. What's mine is yours too. Okay?" He pauses to squeeze Levi's hand and tease, "Just be careful if you ever decide you want to visit our bees?"

Our bees. O-oh. It takes a lot to fluster Levi (like landing the killing blow after a week-long struggle, like being handed 600+ dragots worth of prizes for it) but this does it. For the third time today, Levi's cheeks flush and his eyes go misty and he looks .02 seconds from crying again. Maybe he's just raw from the physical and mental stress of the Hunger Games, but he turns his eyes downward and blots at the corners with the hem of his sleeve. He knows from the tone of Cecil's voice that he's teasing but this is too much.

He swings Meg up to boop her head against Cecil's lips, making a kissing noise as he does so. "Okay, See-Saw!" he agrees in falsetto, clamping on the trigger to make her talk for him. "We'll bee very careful!"

Cecil's never been kissed by a plastic shark before and, while it's sort of novel, he definitely prefers the real thing. Smiling softly, he answers, "That's all I ask." Then he pushes the toy down with one hand and reaches to tilt Levi's chin up gently with the other so he can press his lips to the other boy's. It's short and sweet and he touches Levi's cheek once it's over. He can see the color there and the sheen of moisture lingering in his dark eyes and he knows how much all of this means. And how overwhelmed he must be in the aftermath of everything, even if it's mostly the good sort of overwhelmed.

"Afer we get this back to camp...do you want to do something today? Something to help you relax? I know it's been a long week."

she delighted in killing hazel and probably tried to hug her after she did, simply because hazel was such a badass mofo and quinn loves her for it. RIN HOW DO YOU THINK IT WENT DOWN.

levi can expect to have been treated with merciless bloodlust because meddling in jesse's love life was on the line.

Honestly Hazel is def comforted by the fact that Quinn was her murderer. Couldn't have asked for better :,)

THIS IS A HARD ONE. Either 1) Hubris finally brings Hazel down. She's the last sophomore, she didn't get a hangover because she's one of those people, she's riding this high even into the evening so while she's looking for Quinn, she's not trying hard enough. She gets snuck up on while she's telling someone how cool she is. 2) They have an epic showdown where they circle each other and Quinn's longer arms are Hazel's undoing. Hazel dies dramatically and makes Quinn hug her on the ground.

Regardless for definitely hugs. And pouting. SHE WAS SO CLOSE, QUINN.

we both know i can't turn down a ridic plot so i vote for 2. i love it. quinn will agree to the ground-hug.

Closer to the finish line, Quinn was met with equal bloodlust because his own love life was (not actually) on the line. All of this was just so he could treat Cecil to a really elaborate date or two or three over the break. :^(

sounds good! how do you think he ~did the deed?~ before/after the post-practise shower would have presented levi with a contacts- and glasses-less quinn who can't see shit on the way back to her cabin, BUT i'm also willing to submit a less easy kill. i just don't have any in mind.

she's going to call him the "hide-and-seek champion" and i'm very sorry for that.

i admire the chutzpa but feel that someone racing toward a stationary person on a broom would be borderline terrifying (unless i'm misimagining it!)

it's less merciless bloodlust and more the potential for actual danger that i'm not sure about, because levi hurtling towards standing-quinn on his broom (and to stab her, no less!) seems like it could go south fast, into the grey area of the physical harm rule? unless i'm picturing it wrong and he's just using it to catch up with her, as opposed to chase her down?
