MACUSA PRESS GALA

MACUSA PRESS GALA
Nomaj guests staying at the Lotte New York Palace, one of Manhattan's most notable luxury hotels, begin to notice differently-dressed couples and families arriving for an evening event. It's time to celebrate the collective efforts of MACUSA's upper brass, communications departments, and the Canadian Ministry of Magic from the past year: it's the annual MACUSA Press Gala!
The dress code is black tie and dress robes, the food is high cuisine, and the schmoozing is almost unbearable... especially for their children, who for the first time ever have been included in this prestigious yet stuffy event.

The evening begins with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, leading into the main event of the night: an exquisite dinner in the Madison Room, followed by speeches and allegedly hilarious and/or insightful entertainment touching on hot topics from the MACUSA's last twelve months. Everyone agrees that the star of the show is wizarding America's favourite rapper, Snoop Crupp(!), who performs one song and then spends the rest of the night smoking in one of the suites.

After dinner, however, is when the fun really happens. Tired of being asked about their classes and aspirations, the Gooseberry children in attendance exchange a series of silent nods, amounting to: I think it's time to blow this scene. They procure as much alcohol as they can and retreat upstairs, where the Stoker twins offer the living room of their family's suite for the night.

The Ilvermorny kids aren't invited, so they take over the next-door Champagne Suite. Look how common it is. Typical.
ยป BEFORE THE (REAL) PARTY: Anything that happens before the kids break away from the herd.
ยป GETTING THE GOODS: How does a gaggle of teenagers procure alcohol? Do they transfigure IDs and fool the liquor store clerk? Bribe a waiter? Pull a heist?
ยป THE PARTY: The suite's living room is full of comfortable couches, chairs, and chaises. Drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic are in ready supply. There's music playing and it's way cooler than whatever the old fogies downstairs are listening to. (Surprisingly, both playlists feature The Hobgoblins.) What more could a partier need?
ยป THE TERRACE: Need to step outside? The terrace has fresh air, seating, and a killer view. The weather isn't great, but that's what magic is for, right?
ยป PARTY GAMES: It's not a Gooseberry party without innocuous games that have zero chance of getting out of hand. Feel free to start other party games beneath this header!
ยป BUSTED!: Very Drunk and Very Lame adults catch wind of the shenanigans happening upstairs and they come to drag their naughty children home by their ears.
ยป OOC - Questions, comments, concerns!

HOW THIS WORKS
- This IC/OOC is for the children of MACUSA and MoM employees. Each child is allowed one date.
- The Gala guest list includes Cole (and Calvin), Cressida, Henrietta, Jefferson, Kurt (and Chloe), Mackenzie (and Iliya), Magdalen, Rosemary, Sebastian, Sylvester (and Reid), Tabitha (and Nathaniel), Ulysses, and Xavier.
(If your character should be on the list but is not, is bringing another character as their date, or should not be on the list, please reply to this comment.) - The adults are participating in a very irresponsible drinking game, in which they see who can drink the most and still function in their meetings tomorrow. It really makes you wonder where these kids learned it from.

ยป NEVER HAVE I EVER:ยป ILVERMORNY SUCKS: After some "good-natured" razzing about the recent Quidditch game, the adjacent parties exchange some mild pranks. And possibly some not-so-mild pranks. Mostly there's a fight.ยป TRUTH OR DARE:
- Reply to this comment if your character is participating. Include a Never Have I Ever statement. (ex. "Never have I ever flown in an airplane.")
- Reply to other characters' comments and take a drink if your character has done that thing! And if they haven't they can just sit back and pass judgment!
- You can take another turn in response to someone else, or in a new comment header, or however you want. Have fun!
- Reply to this comment if your character is participating.
- Other characters, reply to a character asking Truth or Dare?
- Once the first character has chosen, the second character will give their question or their challenge.
- If you refuse to answer a question or perform a dare, you must finish your drink.
- Pretend this is working in typical circle fashion. (i.e. once you answer a truth or dare, it's your turn to ask a new person.) This means that if you are able, please ask as many truths/dares as you receive.
ยป BUSTED!: Very Drunk and Very Lame adults catch wind of the shenanigans happening upstairs and they come to drag their naughty children home by their ears.

Re: NEVER HAVE I EVER
"Never have I ever... gone golfing?" The look on his face suggests that he has no idea what rich wizards do. He does nothing but hang out with Sy, he should be able to figure out something by now.
