KISSING DAY

The first day of exams at Gooseberry High coincides with a beloved, exasperating wizarding holiday: Kissing Day! Are you too stressed about your grades to participate, or are you more worried about getting lucky kisses than correct test answers? I mean, obviously only one of these things matters for the future.

Some Azurcrest freshmen have created a kissing game with very obscure rules. Apparently, you win double-plus super good luck and 1000 kiss points (!) if you manage to get a smooch from Sofia Delgado, who is harassed for kiss requests from freshmen all day. Rupert Wick tries to stop the game by confiscating the kissing scorebook from Freddy Stoker, but another scorebook pops up not an hour later, in the hands of Stewart Ocean. How many copies did they make?!

Mr. Merrill stumbles upon Sylvester Stoker stressing out about the 250-question epic Transfiguration exam they have later today. He gives them a lucky kiss on the forehead and few peppy words of support. You can do it!! He believes in you!!! Ms. Rhee is honestly not that mean, it'll be fine!!!!

The easily flustered Agent Yaeger agrees to give Ariadne Flint a chaste kiss on the hand. Uhhh, good luck on your tests? Don't tell Monet about this?

RULES

Kissing Day is an American wizarding holiday meant to usher in the upcoming summer solstice. It's considered good luck to get kissed today, and bad luck and a year of loneliness if you don't get a kiss, or if the object of your affection refuses a kiss from you.

The melodrama of what it means if you don't get the right kiss can vary, so feel free to have your characters be incredibly melodramatic or extremely exasperated over this superstition.

Some students may be under the impression that more kissing = more luck. Will anything special happen if you collect the most kisses? (... probably not, but you'll sure feel loved.)

Receptiveness: Very happy to generally chill in his friends' personal space. Kisses not necessary, but also not minded? He guesses?

Nisha performs an ILL-ADVISED sneak attack on Archie, sneaking up on him from behind (while singing the Jaws theme. A reference he probably doesn't even get.) and throwing herself over his shoulder, giggling, to plant a big gross kiss on the side of his face.

Nisha wants a hug from a goose. Bite her.

Ursula's the only one he actively gives luck to all day.

At some point during the day, Nisha tries to grab Chad's arm and give him a hickey just below his elbow.

Receptiveness: Cole barely remembers that exams started today and he definitely doesn't remember that it's Kissing Day until he gets one or two, at least. While he won't be seeking out kisses, he'll return any that he gets (platonically and on the cheek!) and be glad he's got such good friends~ ♥

The sole exception to his passive role is Paris; he'll ask her if he can give her a kiss on the cheek?? If she wants??

Calvin doesn't look up from the book he's reading. He's reviewed the material for his upcoming exam plenty, but manages to look focused and busy for Micah. "Alright, Micah."

Dinah takes her own gum out of her mouth to pop Nisha's in, because there's nothing weird about a couple gals sharin' mouth germs.

"It needs more CINNAMON," she announced authoritatively.

Jade sneaks up behind Essie and heaves a very heavy sigh. "Cursed." She says in her quietest ghostly voice.

Addy's around literally every corner.

Micah starts flapping his arms, as though this might make Calvin notice him more. "Caaaalviiiiiin." He's going to get kicked out of here for yelling. "I'm going to die of horrible luck unless I'm kissed like right now."

Hazel blows Rosy a kiss if she manages to make eye contact with her. You (maybe) can't get mad about that, shinny friend!! ♥

Ferdie's going to ace his exams with all the luck Ursula is giving him today.

Receptiveness: Fine with it from the people she's close with. Confused by it from anyone else.

Addy doesn't try to kiss Casper anywhere til she reads his entry complaining about this and then in very casual passing, kisses her fingers, and then his cheek just as SOON as she can.

Eileen actually has forgotten she threatened to kiss Casper and makes zero attempts to do so any time she sees him throughout the day.

Hey, Ferdie doesn't kiss Rosy. He salutes her, though, for surviving the day.

Essie sticks out her tongue and licks Oliver instead. It's not the best idea. "Counter cursed!" she insists with a furry tongue.

Receptiveness: There's only one person Lachlan really wants to kiss these days and he'll be spending most of today studying for finals anyway, but he can probably pause long enough to give his nearest and dearest (Addy, Jaime, etc.) an affectionate peck on the cheek. Yancey, of course, will get more than a few kisses today. For good luck.
