ZOO & CAMPING

ZOO & CAMPING
After classes end, all students who signed up for Mr. Calderon-Boot's camping trip meet outside the lodge with their belongings. He can be seen talking to Casper, Ravi and Rafael as everyone arrives and boards the buses.
However, upon getting on board the bus, everyone must pass a quick magical screening to ensure their journals are not coming with them. Anyone who attempts to sneak their journal onboard will have it confiscated, and they'll be returned to them when they return to campus.
By some miracle, though, Penelope Vargas slips past Mr. Calderon-Boot while he's distracted, and they actually manage to keep their journal with them! Better keep it hidden and only write in it secretly. You're surrounded by a whole lot of goody two-shoes who would definitely tattle on you. This means that Penny can write posts and comment on the anonymous post, but if you do so brazenly, it'll be taken away and you'll face punishment!

WHAT'S GOING ON
- Mr. C-B, Ms. Rhee and Mr. Covington will be the staff managing the trip.
- Students will leave after classes, and will take a bus to a portkey to Hogle Zoo (x), which is located in Salt Lake City. They'll have three hours to explore the zoo, and will be given vouchers to each get a snack and a drink.
- Afterwards, students will then be taken on buses once again to spend the night at Spring Hollow Campground. There'll be fly fishing lessons and grilled food, and students can choose their own groups to share tents with. Mr. C-B's not as big of a hardass as Mr. Thorn, and doesn't think young couples need to be separated.
- In the morning, students will have a quick breakfast, and be driven back to school in time for classes.
- There's only one catch... Journals will be strictly forbidden on this trip. If you're caught bringing yours, Mr. C-B will confiscate it. He even has a clever charm that scans for the presence of magical journals.
- What this means is that if you choose to have your character participate in this IC/OOC, they may not comment on the Anonymous Post. They must also behave as though they do not have their journals while on the camping trip.

» The zoo:
» African Savannah: Giraffes, zebra, ostrich and nyala can be seen in a 4-acre mixed species exhibit with expansive views over the entire area from a new terrace. The area also features African lions (including three cubs) in a large exhibit overlooking the mixed species area. Through it all, the Zoo's Safari Express Train winds through the exhibit.
» the safari express: The Zoofari Express Train (amazing name) takes riders between the new lion exhibit and other savanna animals and then continues around the perimeter of the exhibit featuring giraffes, zebras and ostriches.
» rocky shores: Rocky Shores is an extensive multi-animal habitat featuring bears (polar, brown and black), sea lions (one of which is indeed named Diego), seals and otters. There's up-close, underwater viewing of the animals as they swim, as well as views from ground level.
» asian highlands: The exhibit features cats from highland regions of northeastern Asia, including Amur tigers, Snow leopards, Amur leopards, Siberian lynx and Pallas' cats.
» small animal building: In the center of the building you can find many tropical birds in a free-flight rainforest. There's also an up-close view of the giant tortoises. The outer hallways contain over 30 species of snakes and lizards, as well as an extensive collection of dead and displayed butterflies. You can also spot wolves just outside the west doors.
» elephant encounter: Guests will have wonderful views of elephants and rhinoceroses at rest and at play. They might catch a training demonstration where keepers show how they work with the elephants and check their health.
» primate forest & great apes: The Primate Forest houses several species of primates – from the Old World and New World. The Zoo’s Great Apes Building and outdoor yards house two species of great ape, Bornean Orangutan and the Western Lowland Gorilla.
» The carousel: The carousel features 42 hand-carved animals and two chariots on three rings, and lots of sweetly repetitive music.
» camping:
» The bus: Say goodbye to your friends! All the students participating in the camping event jump on the bus to exit the anti-Apparition zone. The bus will take them to a Portkey, and then continue on to the campground while the kids enjoy the zoo. (You can leave your bags on the bus.) Us this for arrivals and departures.
» fishing: Mr. Covington gives everyone lessons in flyfishing if they still have the energy after the zoo. He tells students that sometimes the best advice is found in the steady roll of a lazy stream. You'll get where you're going, don't you worry.
» the campfire & dinner: Mr. Calderon-Boot takes point on cooking. He makes some impressive dutch oven lasagna as the main course, with other options available for anyone with dietary restrictions.
» goodnight: The sun has set, it's been a long day, and it's time to get some rest. Cuddle up with a friend and sleep well.
