(no subject)

So my mom taught me how to cook at least well enough that I wouldn't burn every damn thing I put in an oven or on a stove. When you are cooking it doesn't matter so much that you are a half teaspoon off of salt or some other spice. If you don't put enough flour in a cake, if you are off a tiny bit, it still is edible.

So why the fuck is it so difficult in potions? What does it matter if I'm a centimeter off on my cutting or I stir once instead of twice? Come on cauldron, get this shit together and stop trying to make me look like an idiot. This is a class I can pass but this shit is way too picky.

Potions is definitely one of the hard ones, especially if you're a hands-on learner. I have a hard time absorbing all that information just from reading a list of steps or even listening to someone explain it to me.

Brewing a potion is more of a ritual than cooking. There is magic in all of the details, and they directly influence the next step. You need to look at your physical actions as something that's just as important as the ingredients.

Maybe stop thinking of the newt's tails as the enemy?

Step one: don't smash the newt.

Undoubtedly.

What are you trying to brew, anyway? Maybe I can help you out.
