KISSING DAY

RULES

Kissing Day is the day before the summer solstice! It's considered good luck to get kissed today, and bad luck and a year of loneliness if you don't get a kiss, or if the object of your affection refuses a kiss from you.

The melodrama of what it means if you don't get the right kiss can vary, so feel free to have your characters be incredibly melodramatic or extremely exasperated over this superstition.

Simply comment with your character's name and form below, and then respond to others who have posted their characters!

Some students may be under the impression that more kissing = more luck. Will anything special happen if you collect the most kisses? (... probably not, but you'll sure feel loved.)

Lucas' eyes widen, and then he flinches. "Um, oh." Real smooth, Lucas. Scratching the back of his head, he adds, "It's...cute?"

Still in conversation recovery mode, he hunches forward a bit, letting his arms drop off the table and clasping his fingers in his lap. It's like he's simultaneously leaning in and slightly uncomfortable. This is pretty standard for Lucas Kowalski. "What about you? Maximize your luck for the next three hundred sixty-five days? Or contract a zombie virus?"

When Hazel sees Ty she makes a beeline towards him, beaming up at the boy before pushing up on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek. She seems to be in good spirits, with no sign of the sulky attitude she's had the past week or so. "Where's Quinn? Are you guys being gross today?"

"Ok Fern, pucker up!"

Hazel says this at the back of Fern's head, hoping her roomie will turn around for her too.

Dimi, king of foolish boys, brings Sylla a peony and his smiling face. "I could use a bit of extra luck, for the coming months."

This is just how they say hello. Nia punctuates it with a loud MWAH.

Chris smirks but he obliges and leans down to Hazel's level.

Iliya is hesitant to do any smashing, but he will give Nia a little kiss on her forehead, as a thank you for all the chocolate kisses.

It's like, heart breakingly adorable. She kisses him back, of course. "Good luck to you too!"

Solomon beams and doesn't ruin the moment by explaining that he doesn't believe luck exists because we are all products of specific trajectories influenced by decisions we make.

"Well, first of all, you don't deserve the guilt. You're a good person who does good things, and you shouldn't have to feel guilty about anything. Second... you love to give kisses, and I know that, because you are one of my best friends and we've known each other forever. Third: you adore me. You think I'm being really cute right now. Like... kissably cute."

Micah winks at her, and offers his cheek for a kiss.

Nia looks a little like she just got selected from the audience for The Price Is Right.

Appearing out of nowhere, Chris descends on Ryan during breakfast, where he can't quickly escape and suffocates Ryan with kisses. He comes off as that overly affectionate, annoying aunt you only see once a year. He covers Ryan's face in kisses for an unbearable twenty five seconds. And then he sits down to eat breakfast as if nothing just happened.

In place of a kiss, Roxie links her fingers into the curve of his arm and keeps pace with him for a while. She feels like she can put the same amount of intended affection into it.

Look at this tall, cute, cranky boy. Nia blows him a kiss, to go along with the chocolate ones, and then tries to pinch his cheek.

Roxie doesn't bother with social niceties when it comes to Chris, just leans up on her toes to buss him on the cheek.

Name: Solomon
Receptiveness: Solomon doesn't understand this holiday but he is good with casual affection. So he's open to all kisses from anybody.

His hand hovers, attempting some sort of blind survey of the general area his hair is currently occupying before carding through the whole lot of it with a sigh. It honestly doesn't help much, but no one was expecting miracles at this point. "It's a poor man's fro, is what it is."

He smiles, crooked, and ticks up a finger in inquiry. "Is Gabi allowed to single-handedly save me from languishing in loneliness?" The finger lowers, tapping lightly against the side of his nose. "Cause, otherwise, I've generously saved Micah's life. But I'm probably going to die a hermit."

Diego looks surprised, and then without warning dissolves into nervous laughter. "No. No, I mean, obviously." He exhales and folds his hands over his lap, the leaf still in his fingers. His voice always gets a little high pitched when he's stressed. "Not on purpose anyway. It's you or no one."

Ree shrieks, but it's a gleeful shriek and she is more than happy to get beater babe kisses. "Think how much luck we're bringing next year's team right now!"

"Sylla!" Vee trills as she comes up to her girl. "May I have some luck from the most fierce lady I know?"

Yeah, Ree tried. She snorts and throws herself at Micah, if only so that she can be extremely dramatic about peppering his face with kisses. "I almost always think you're being kissably cute," she informs him between smacks, and she only wishes she'd had time to put her lipstick on before he showed up. "Sorry I'm not better at being mean, sweetie. I did try."

They don't flirt. Instead, they're just painfully sincere at each other.

"That totally works out," Bash grins, one hand on his chest. "Cause I happen to like kisses from you."

They really shouldn't study together. They can't be trusted. Quinn would be exasperated if she knew that they were guilty (again) of fooling around amongst the stacks, but it's difficult to resist on an average day. "We could make a system," he suggests between kisses. "Forty-five minutes of studying, fifteen of something else."

Spotting Oz, Vee bounces over with enthusiasm. "There you are!" She exclaims, a playful look on her face that suggests he should have known she's been looking for him. "I need your help."
