KISSING DAY

RULES

Kissing Day is the day before the summer solstice! It's considered good luck to get kissed today, and bad luck and a year of loneliness if you don't get a kiss, or if the object of your affection refuses a kiss from you.

The melodrama of what it means if you don't get the right kiss can vary, so feel free to have your characters be incredibly melodramatic or extremely exasperated over this superstition.

Simply comment with your character's name and form below, and then respond to others who have posted their characters!

Some students may be under the impression that more kissing = more luck. Will anything special happen if you collect the most kisses? (... probably not, but you'll sure feel loved.)

Ramon smiles, giving Ari's hand a second kiss - for extra luck, of course. "That is very possible, but if I am trouble it's the fun kind."

He releases her hand before tapping his cheek in request.

Oh boy, does Charlotte love flattery and being reminded of how tall she is. Micah's hitting all of her weak points.

Charlie straightens her posture and tosses her long hair over her shoulder for him, one hand placed confidently on her hip. "Well, you're not ugly," she tells him, cupping his chin and angling his face toward her before leaning in for a kiss.

Sylla doesn't hesitate to give Vee a polite double-cheek kiss and looks properly smug at being called fierce.

The reply zaps its way across his skin in a way that's sort of cold and then sort of tingly and Bash grips tight onto Lucas' hand just for something solid. And because it's nice. Maybe not strictly familiar just yet, but it's getting there? Or it could? And that's nice. And, as a course of action, it's a lot better than pressing his fingers over the length of the grin on Lucas' face like his brain seems to think is a good idea.

(It's not. It's a weird idea and it really doesn't matter how nice you think something is. That doesn't mean you should go and touch it.)

"We could - Um." How did people do this kind of thing often enough that it was no big deal? Because his head kind of felt a bit like radio static sounded and there was no way that was normal or doctor recommended. He takes a breath and starts again, "There are. A lot of people. We could maybe go and meet 'em outside? Probably less people there."

Receptiveness: Local Pinterest Mom is always on the look out for events that might make people feel left out :( But, no worries! She's on the case. Cricket spends her morning attaching 'Hugs & Kisses' to every locker, along with individually smooched gift tags that have big, round, red kiss prints and a flourished CMQ signature.

After that, she spends the rest of the day in the library where she'll gleefully snag any of her friends as they walk by and press lipstick prints to their cheeks. She'll dodge anything more amorous than that unless it's coming from Maggie.

"Nooo," he replies coyly, then corrects himself after a beat, "Well, yes, but!" Levi nuzzles noses before pressing a kiss to both corners of Cecil's lips. "It's Kissing Day. I thought it'd be best if we got a head start."

Cecil laughs softly despite himself. Between exams, senior projects, and the potentially life-altering conversation he'd had with Levi yesterday...he'd completely forgotten about Kissing Day. He stretches and slips his arms around the other boy, but glances away sheepishly before he answers, "...we could. But there's morning breath to consider." How is there not a spell for this, honestly?

Name: Jesse McBride
Receptiveness: Jesse doesn't typically enjoy kissing based events. He's more of a Dyngus than a Casanova. He spends the majority of his day hiding out in the Aritificing shed but good-naturedly accepts cheek kisses at meal times.

He'll seek out Ivy more than usual though and try to turn all his illicit drinking spots into hot-blooded American hook up spots.

Ramon, as he's headed back to Ribbonfin after studying, catches sight of Cole as he's leaving Aesthetic Magic and flags him down with a wave and a bit of a smile. He's not going to have any luck with Calvin, but he might as well steal a kiss from some of his other roommates.

"Hey Cole, shall I add to your 'luck'?" The word 'luck' is delivered with air quotes in an attempt to let Cole know that he doesn't believe in this at all. He's just in it for the kisses.

Cricket isn't quite petty enough to deny Casey a goody-bag but she does pointedly avoid him throughout the day.

Cricket overloads him with candy and kindly ignores the bright red lip prints all over his face and neck.

"What morning breath?" he lies, purposely avoiding kissing him directly on the mouth and instead veering to kiss his earlobe, his jaw, and down the length of his neck. Levi may have brushed his own teeth in preparation, but he didn't think about Cecil's.

A thought occurs to him. "Or are you asking me to sneak off to the showers with you while everyone else is asleep?" He gasps at the suggestion Cecil never made and pulls back to smirk at him. "Cecil, you cad."

Cricket ALSO has a sharp eye on Miss Riley 'I Hate That We Share A Middle Name' Stamper. It's not unusual for Cricket to stalk Maggie but she's particularly clingy today. Sorry, ladies!

"Yes!" Diego answers too quickly and looks up at Ravi like he's been caught. Diego's never very hard to read, and he already feels exposed. He clears his throat and tries to sound more level than he feels. "It's, uh, you know. Whatever." Diego falls back on the nonsense words he had picked up at Gooseberry. Ofelia still scolds him every time he says whatever, like it's a curse word. He uses no-maj-y slang less and less when he's mirroring Ravi's formal speech pattern.

"I used to be really easy," he finally says, aiming for casual, landing in ashamed.

DEFINITELY the attention she was looking for!! When Uly goes in for the kiss she wraps her arms around him in a hug, but doesn't let go. Instead, she leans back to inspect the lipstick marks on him. "My handsome boy! So popular with the ladies!" she praises before planting a fresh mark on an unclaimed portion of his face.

"I guess we weren't meant to be," Ulysses sighs. "Poor Casper. Hope someone else saved him from a year of bad luck."

Reid follows, remaining as close to Xavier as he can without making them trip all over one another's feet. The brush of Xavier's teeth on his lips all but forbids him from getting more than a foot away. "We might get in trouble," he points out, not terribly concerned. There's a challenging smile lingering on his lips. "Aren't you kinda a good kid?"

Despite this, Reid pulls Xaiver over to a supply closet.

"He prefers bad luck," Iliya comments. "It gives him a reason to be grumpy."

Cricket, you're his favourite big sister in the whole wide world. He slams three kisses into his mouth at once, and then immediately regrets the fact that they're gone.

Aw, Maggie, let him go! He squawks a little and tries to pull away, but obviously, not too hard, because he likes positive attention.

"What's your excuse?"

A holiday for sending mixed messages through physical affection? HELL yeah. She's even wearing tights with hearts on them for the occasion.

Maggie greets her with a quick and cheerful peck in the morning before following her around to help her tape goodie bags to lockers. She's trying to be subtle in her stalking, not realizing that Cricket is stalking her back. Anyone who tries to get a bit too friendly in their kisses will get the stink eye from Maggie.

Cricket receives several kisses from her throughout the day, each one lingering a bit longer than the last but played off with giddy, girlish giggles as if she's simply caught up in the holiday and not thirsty for her best friend.

Holy crap. This is a game changer. "Milo or Frankie would be most efficient," he says, after looking the card over. It's barely even a dodge at this point, just helpful advice. You're bad a BINGO, Micah.

There's a long pause. He hates being put on the spot like this. Usually he'd just hunch his shoulders and mutter something in Bulgarian, for fear of saying something stupid. But looking now around at the faces of his friends, Iliya realizes he has little to be afraid of. "...Genetic. Men in my family do not smile," he answers, deadpan.

He will miss this. He'll miss this very much.

Oh no! Hoist on his own petard. Ulysses runs away, and it's really not clear if he's laughing or yelling.
