Blinking slowly, she isn't quite sure she gets the joke, if it even is one. "A harrowing obstacle, I am sure," she murmurs quietly, albeit distantly.

Her answer to his question is quick, however. "Yes. Absolutely. I reckon carrying on amidst hardship is our British heritage." That's her idea of a joke, as dark as it is. "The school is still standing. I talked Mummy and Daddy into letting me come back earlier in the year, after all." She sighs comfortably as she leans against him, waiting a moment before admitting, "I will miss you, though."
