Would Casey's fooling around have broken the pole? Probably not. But there's a possibility and that's not actually the point anyway. Casper seems to be satisfied that he's surrendered the object, though, and turns his attention back to setting up the tent. Focusing on this seems like the best way to keep himself from snapping at the Coppertale and given tonight's arrangments...that seems like the way to go.
