Her anger in his behalf is, he thinks, unearned. He stares at his shoes for a moment to gather himself, smiling gently. He's never stopped to think about it, but having someone stand up for him, even to this level is a little unusual. Rare. He wouldn't ever ask it of anyone. Maybe that's why it's nice. He isn't sure how to say any of that, but knows that if he smiles at his shoes for any longer, it's going to look weird. He meets her eyes with a gentle shake of his head.
"She stole state secrets. They're right to be mad at her. She's...always warned me that would. You know. Trickle down."
