Ennis's grin momentarily falters when Yancey mentions that this will be their last sled. "You know? This is my first time doing illegal sledding at Gooseberry? Last year I got detention for it and all I did was make snow castles with Chloe at the party. I only went because there were some seniors I fancied."

He laughs, shaking his head, and tucks his sunglasses away. "I cried about it for days," he says, hoisting the sled up and glancing back to Yancey. "So help me make up for it? If I get caught, I want to deserve it."
