"The spirit is the same," she says, in that same low, soft voice. She angles her gaze upward, looking into the girl's face. "The feeling of it, I guess. People enjoying themselves. Loudness. Excitement. But there are no games? Like, no one trying to cheat you out of your money to play something unwinnable. A key feature of your classic carnival. And no animals, either, unless you count some of the people."
