SECRET STUDENT SEANCE

Drama Club president Micah St. Clair makes sure the auditorium is cleared out in the evening, in time for a secret seance involving select members of the junior class. Their goal: to enlist the help of Gooseberry's ghost children in monitoring the MACUSA presence. The Living Kids–Dead Kids Alliance is a go!

When the crew sneak one by one into the auditorium, they'll find a large table set up onstage, the same one from the winter play, complete with a black tablecloth and an old Ouija board in the center. White candles on tall candelabras (also repurposed stage props) surround the table for some ~mood lighting~, and Micah orders everyone into their seats and the lights turned down low as they set up to contact the spirits. Zachary Zheng is stationed outside the main entrance to the auditorium, tasked with keeping any inquistive students/teachers/Aurors from poking their heads in.

HOW THIS WORKS

• The seance starts at 7 PM and will last one or two hours, depending on how things go. The kids will get out in time for the lodge to close for the night.


• This IC/OOC is only open to Ari, Bash, Calvin, Cole, Essie, Fern, Hazel, Jade, Jeffy, Lucas, Micah, and Zach.


• Everyone will be allowed to keep asking questions until 8 PM MT*, at which point the seance will end. *If we decide to extend the seance for an hour, we'll make note of it in the OOC section.


• As this is happening before curfew and not in a forbidden area, no one is breaking the rules. However, staff still frowns upon trying to contact the ghosts, so if anyone is caught at this, they may receive a stern talking to.

» Arrivals: For making plans, sneaking in, or showing off your seance outfits.

» The Ouija Board: Where all the action is! Ask your questions here. Answers will come from the gooseburied journal.

» Observers: For those of you who don't want to risk ghost possession by touching the planchette.

» Departures: As in leaving the auditorium after the seance is over, not death. Ha ha ha.

Micah sighs, and turns to address the Ouija board. "If you have to possess someone, take me, okay? Micah Vincent St. Clair. Black hair, blue eyes. About five-eight, very cute."

"Micah," Fern growls, "Don't be a dumbass." It's a stupid thing to say and, worse, unproductive.

"No," Calvin rudely cuts Micah off and grabs his arm a little too hard. "Stop volunteering for things."

"Or, y'know," Bash interjects. "We could not possess anybody? Our bodies are probably awful and filled with artificial flavoring and high-fructose corn syrup. Nobody wants to be in there."

The planchette moves to the very bottom of the board and selects GOODBYE.

It doesn't move again.

The phrase tugs something tight between Bash's shoulders and he straightens a bit, almost involuntarily.

"Yeah," he nods. "Yeah, okay."

Micah sighs deeply as his friends attempt to stop him from pointlessly self-sacrificing himself.

"Okay, or listen to Bash. Possession is bad." He bumps Calvin's shoulder, trying to be reassuring.

There's definitely a lot of emotions tied up in these two words for Essie. She's suddenly thinking about Pippa and Wyatt and everyone else who didn't return.

She nods at the board.

She's always wanted to be possessed anyway. Jade takes her hand off the planchette, and casts her eyes to the rafters involuntarily. "I'd be a good ghost suit, anyway." She excuses herself as the ghost gives its last farewells, hurrying to Ari, who she cares more about than Marg.

Calvin sullenly leans back into Micah with a protective arm around him. He's not a fan of these American ghosts. They behave more like Micah's horror movies than sensible, straightforward wizarding ghosts. "I'm not datin' anyone who's possessed," he mumbles.

"Uh, is the ghost just allowed to end it like that?" It's a rhetorical question, so Micah goes through the motions of closing the session anyway. "Thanks for helping!" he calls out to the auditorium, and then kind of wiggles the planchette with his fingers so it lands on GOODBYE again.

"She hasn't got anything to be mad about." Hazel sounds pretty mad herself, though.

"...How's it supposed to end?" Cole figures that this is, at least, better than how it ended last time.

Micah looks over with a grin, although he's careful not to take his finger off the planchette. Gotta do this by the books. "Would you know possessed me from normal me?"
