"I could," Sandy agrees, grinning easily back and setting his drink down among the clovers so he can open the water bottle, "But I'm not a sucker who needs to prove shit to people." The words sound pretty ridiculous when articulated in his low, mellow voice and it's clear he doesn't mean them, but that's probably fine. He offers the bottle to Eileen without comment, hoping that she'll just take it and drink. She'll feel better later. "So you'll probably just have to come to terms with being friends with a loser."
