A KINDA DISCO BIRTHDAY

When Marie Patterson arrives at the cafeteria for breakfast, she's met by the sound of music. Or, er, "music": musicians serenade her with Bad Girls by Donna Summer in celebration of her 16th birthday.

Given only 24 hours' notice and little in the way of sheet music, the eclectic gathering sounds... interesting. Her older brother, Casey, pretends to orchestrate the show with his whistle and dance moves evocative of an air traffic controller.

The music plays until Marie sits down with her breakfast. Casey tries to go in for the ol' hug-and-noogie combo. Happy birthday, Tiny sis.

Welcome to this week's edition of "The Player Event got too long so Kas wrote an informative IC/OOC instead." Don't feel bad about not tagging in! :)

All musicians are welcome to have volunteered to play. (Casey will owe you a favour!) (Tally Prince need not apply! He doesn't trust you to keep the secret!)

The list of performers is currently: Casper Kim, Austin McNamara, Antonia Papadakis, Solomon Webb, and possibly Iliya ~~Kuryakin~~ ~~Muromets~~ Krum.

The song begins when Marie walks in and continues until she's finished at the buffet and sits down with her breakfast.

If any singers volunteer, Casey will give them the "cut it out" signal a few lines into the first verse. It turns out this is a song about prostitution. Casey... was not aware. And neither was I. The musicians will continue.

Casey proudly accepts full responsibility and is prepared to lose points and/or get detention.

Why did Casper agree to do this? It's difficult to say. But he did and he's here and he plays his part perfectly after practicing with Nia last night. He definitely looks as sour and serious as ever, though, so don't expect him to be wishing anyone 'happy birthday'.

Make no mistake, boys and girls — this wasn't exactly a surprise, because Marie did not expect anyone to forget her birthday. I mean, she's 16 whole years old!!! This is big, you guys. That said, she absolutely wasn't expecting this.

Is she embarrassed? Oh, no, no. Casey knows his baby sis. Marie fuckin' loves attention, and this is exactly the type she prefers. Everyone is looking at her!!! It's a noise disaster!!!! Those instruments don't work together at all..... or do they? Someone remind her to think about this later, because she's definitely, almost, riiiight on the verge of a coherent idea here, and... nope. Nope, she's dancing and it's gone.

Marie Party Rock Anthem shuffles her way over to her table and some of her food kind of rolls off her plate (SORRY!!!), but it looks cute, so she doesn't really care. She manages to keep her cantaloupe a little steadier as she takes a sweeping bow before finally sitting down. Wait! Hey, CASEY, get OFF!!!!! Oh my gooooood!!!!! You're the worst brother in the entire world!

Anyway, this was delightful and Marie loved it. The attention will fuel her for at least three moons. The fact that this is definitely a song about LADIES OF THE NIGHT only makes her power stronger.

Iliya carts his massive cello into the cafeteria, which is only marginally an inconvenience given that he carries his cello to the Music room every day anyway.

His expression is focused as he plays through the song. He never plays the cello half-heartedly, even for such a ridiculous occasion and unsuitable song. The noise is disastrous. Iliya arranged his part himself.

i'm really bummed that i couldn't find the gifs of the air force traffic controller who dances at planes in booty shorts. :(
