Since I learned the patronus charm (finally!!), I cast it every day so I can observe my Otter.

It usually appears in a display of motion that resembles swimming or gliding around me, but occasionally it seems to run or roll around as though on the ground. I don't know what, if anything, triggers the difference -- but either way it seems cheerful. (I think? I could be projecting.)

So --

Has anyone ever noticed their patronus exhibiting different behavior, depending on the circumstance or setting? Or maybe even doing something strange or notable? I'm curious about the way the charm expresses itself.

Congratulations, Pandora. Patronuses are joy made manifest, so it makes sense that your patronus would always appear to be happy.

Mine always seems confident. Even when I'm not feeling that way.

That's a good question. I wonder if it's also affected by how the caster perceives an animal's happiness? Observing patronus behaviors could be an interesting project.

I imagine if you did find correlations like that, you could learn to tell an awful lot about a person just based on what their patronus is and how it behaves.

Good to get started, now. I have a whole stack of them.

Expecto Patronum's such an old spell, I'm sure there's got to be some literature out there on it. And if not, pioneering a new field seems pretty fun, huh?

Completing multiple senior projects should guarantee you some sort of internship.

It fell to the ground like it died

idk it doesn’t give me a lotta faith in being a patronus

Cute! My hedgehog just sort of wobbles around and balls up sometimes? I've been wanting to draw it, but she won't sit still. I wonder if you can learn to control them?

Oh, really? It should be possible to learn, then!

UGH I still can't cast mine but it's probably fine like what would I need it for anyway?
