RIBBONFIN FLOODED

RIBBONFIN FLOODED
The heavy rain from the past few days results in the Ribbonfin campground flooding as the Rainbow River spills over. Students escaping the flood for breakfast or early classes only have to wade through six inches of water, but by noon, that's become a foot tall, and the rain shows no signs of stopping.
Soon, it's announced that all Ribbonfin students must spend the night in the lodge. The water is expected to recede sometime tonight, but until then, all the fishes will be snuggling together in the Atrium (and fighting for space in the lodge's handful of washrooms). You'll be allowed to run back to your cabins for supplies, but by 8 PM, the Ribbonfin campground will be closed for tonight.

During the Day: Ribbonfins wake up to discover that their cabins are surrounded by water. Hope you brought a pair of rubber boots in your luggage!
Cabins: For people needing to pack things for tonight's impromptu house sleepover.
Spectators and Passersby: For nosy nancies who ignore safety warnings and need to get shooed away from Ribbonfin. IT'S JUST WATER. IT'S NOT THAT EXCITING.
In The Lodge: By 8 PM, the lodge's Atrium has been cleared for exclusive use by Ribbonfins. Cots and sleeping bags are set up throughout the space, and the fireplace is going to keep everyone toasty.
Night: It's lights out by 10 PM, but you can keep having quiet conversations so long as you don't disturb anyone else.

He doesn't have much packing to do but, despite Rosy's reassurances, he does spend some time casting waterproof charms on his sketchbooks and other delicate artistic tools and setting these things in higher places just in case. The scare this morning has him wanting to be more prepared than usual. After all this, he shoves a pair of clothes and some pajamas into a bag along with his current sketchbook and his pens and his wand. He's about to leave when he realizes he hasn't seen Calvin. Did the boy not hear? Did he already come and get his things and go to the lodge so quickly? He decides to stay a little longer and see if the other boy shows and to sketch while he waits. He then loses track of time...
Hopefully, he won't get left behind.

Thankfully, Rosy is also amazing and mentions she has a green backpack with an Extension Charm on it and Ursula manages to find it without too much trouble. In go books, papers, pens, hair potions, face potions, multiple changes of clothes, etc. (Rosy wouldn't have mentioned it if she needed it herself, right?!)
As she scans the room, she realizes that she has Wormsula's cup to worry about and also... she apparently has flowers that need to be protected. Both receive an irritated look and are reluctantly swept into her arms.

Once all her ladies are present and accounted for, she checks on the junior boys
because Ferdinand is just never around you guys. Then she checks in with Ravi to see if anyone's been swept down river or if she can get to the Atrium and dry the fuck off.no subject
Nobody else seemed to be around (did he live in a cabin full of ghosts???), so he grabbed a backpack and packed it haphazardly with essentials, including homework, an ecology book, a change of clothing, warmer clothes, dry shoes, extra socks, extra extra socks, and a third pair of socks (he was cautious after the OE trip), and Sarah's latest letter. He know O
wliver would spend the night in the owlery, and besides, he's a bird. He taps the backpack with a water-repelling charm but doesn't bother to do the same for himself since he was already soaked, and there was no point in fixing that until he was in the Atrium.(no subject)

Finally, she piles almost all her belongings up on her bunk and casts a waterproofing charm over the whole thing. Tomorrow, she's going to need to excavate her bed.
That ends up taking up most of her time, and she has to hastily shove things she needs for tonight into her bag, and she's almost certainly forgetting things. Rosy ends up having to tell her to
move her asshurry up and go.(no subject)

He's standing in about ten inches of water in his galoshes, all bundled up and soaking wet anyway. The colder the weather gets the more lumberjack grandpa his clothing becomes. He still feels like Ribbonfin is kind off limits to him so he's somewhere around the edges, just close enough to see how bad it is.

IN THE LODGE
Re: IN THE LODGE
His move being (politely) shooing off a freshman Ribbonfin whose sleeping bag was right next to Ravi's spot.
Calvin proceeds to sit and read patiently, until Ravi returns to his sleeping bag. Calvin looks up and fakes mild, innocent surprise. "Oh, Ravi, are you sleeping there? Do you need me to move for one of your friends?" He knows Ravi will never in a million years ask him to move.

She cheerfully calls out "Hello, little fishes!" and begins her trek across the Atrium. Her steps between cots and belongings are carefully placed so nothing (and nobody) is squished.

But she's still grumpy mom. And Ribbonfishies are too soft and squishy for her to take her grump out on them. So she just wants to sit here and do her homework and go the fuck to sleep.

After being prodded by Calvin on the journals, he hurries out of the cabin and in the direction of the lodge. He arrives absolutely soaked and with enough mud on his clothes to suggest that he may've slipped or fallen into something, but this doesn't bother him too much since his bag has been charmed to keep out the water and everything inside should be fine. He is cold, though. And shivering. He sets down his bag as soon as he's inside the Atrium, then proceeds to strip off his wet shirt and jacket, wring out his dark hair, and squelch across the room to put all his things on the floor by an unclaimed cot. He's just relieved to be here and glad to Leonora decided to stay in the owlery tonight.
If he spots Calvin among the other Ribbonfins, he gives his roommate a smile and a little wave before wiping his wet hands futilely on his wet jeans and then opening up his bag. He's ready to get changed.

"Did anyone bring snacks?" He asks sort of loudly but not too loudly. He just tends to always want to know if there is food anywhere.
