This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn promposal

As promised, Teddy is waiting outside the Ebonhide junior girls cabin first thing in the morning, to walk Issy to class. However, when she steps outside, she sees the trees are all covered in various shades of origami paper cranes, one thousand to be exact, all charmed to flutter in place.

One gold crane detaches itself from the others and flies down to land on her palm.

It unfolds itself, and on the paper are the words: "Isabelle, my queen, I folded each one by hand, just to make sure my wish would come true, but only you can grant it: will you go to prom with me?"

Isabelle is a morning person through and through. She likes to have coffee before anything particularly crazy happens, but she's not just naturally groggy in the morning for no reason. So she's bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, humming to herself quietly as she gets ready. She doesn't even look out the window and see anything that shouldn't be there. Once dressed and she figures Teddy is probably ready to go, she heads outside to meet him -

and finds herself completely stunned for several long seconds.

Not even processing it yet, she opens her hand without thinking as the little golden crane flutters its way down to her, eyes wide as she looks at the hundreds of paper cranes lining the trees, fluttering in place with such a soft little paper rustle it actually does sound just like wind going through the leaves. She doesn't need to count to know there has to be a thousand paper cranes in there, remembering the conversation they'd had during the blizzard when mimics broke into the lodge. Funny that she'd forgotten all about it because of everything else that happened until just now.

Finally, she looks down at the crane to open it and reads the message. "Thaddius Butterfield, did you really waste your wish on asking me to prom?" She's looking rather incredulous, but even despite the apparent disdain in her voice, her face has lit up and she looks like she's trying very hard to hold back a very large smile. "You didn't need to wish for it, of course I'll go to Prom with you." Isabelle pulls him into a hug, giving him a kiss as well. This was exactly the kind of grand gesture romantic thing she liked - large scale, but still relatively private and not in front of everyone. No pressure.

"I love you." She blurted, blushing and burying her face into his chest.
