WATER BALLOON FIGHT

It's a hot day, perfect for the annual water balloon fight at Gooseberry. Students rush to strategize and plan, while the teachers are, for once, not pitted against one another. They sit back and watch, watching their students affectionately and doing their best to keep spirits up. "Let's get out there and HAVE FUN!!!!!" Mr. Merrill blares on his megaphone.

Soon everyone's hunkered down in their home bases, waiting for Mr. Merrill to countdown. The balloons are all in an assortment of house colors, and the freshmen are out in earnest to make everyone's lives harder. Represent your year, show them which class has the most gusto! Whatever you do, don't let the freshmen win!

HOW THIS WORKS

• Teams are divided by year. Each team has their own home base, which is an area blocked off by a wall of wooden boards to protect everyone from enemy fire. At the home bases are buckets full of water balloons. You can also catch your breath and get a drink.


• The event begins at 2 PM in the lightly forested area near the Ornery Oak, so there's plenty of cover and the area is well-traversed. No one will get lost or feel threatened by the forest. Something about the Oak makes you feel safe.


• Dress code: If they wish, boys can go shirtless and girls can be in sports bras or bikini tops.


• If you want to participate, post your character to the header comment below with the appropriate year: Sophomore, Junior or Senior. We will then RNG them a score between 1 and 50 that will go to their year's point total. To even the odds, we'll add a bonus sophomore roll for every 5 sophomores who post. We'll also do freshmen rolls for every character who posts, to a max of 30 total freshman rolls.


• The points are not canon and are just an abstract measure of the character's performance.


• Each player (not character) is allowed one reroll, which you can request by responding to the results comment for any of your characters. The reroll will be higher than the original roll.


• The winning year will not only receive bragging rights, but also a supernatural event that will be determined later. We'll be doing rolls only until Sun, Jun 10 at 11:59 PM. Then we'll have our winners!


• You can throw balloons at anyone, including teammates. The rules are loose, and who wins is a little subjective. It's up to the players to determine whether or not their character is hit. The freshmen are also running around trying to get people.

How are they playing?: Delivery boy! He'll run around with a lot of balloons and resupply, tossing a couple when he's got an arm free. He's got shitty aim, but he's fast and if lucky, he will get the balloon in just the right spot to splatter on your chest and hit your face with the resulting water. This child has no end to his stamina and he's having fun.

He also is more than happy than to run around shirtless. It's not as warm as Alabama, but it's familiar.

Basil is overjoyed. He's not had a proper water balloon fight ever, though he'd happily regale you with how he won greasy watermelon for his team during the Fourth of July swim team tradition. Sure, he had a black eye afterwards, and he was responsible for breaking the most watermelons, but it was great.

But that'd come later. Right now he is a gazelle, a very awkward, long-limbed gazelle tossing balloons haphazardly to anyone he knew was a threat to his team. And apparently he was pretty okay at it? At least until bare feet plus slick grass means he's falling on his ass and dropping several balloons in the process.
