When Diego promises a party, he makes good on his promise, even if he's reached peak levels of weird and pathetic the last couple of days. It's a weeknight, though, so the mood of the party is mellower than usual. There's still alcohol and music, but if these kids are smart, it won't become a rager. (... 50/50 chance if it becoming a rager.)

Laurel

Laurel makes an appearance here. She's a little flighty and distracted, chattering and jumping from topic to topic -- ghosts! this documentary I saw! my senior project! Christmas!

She's also drinking from a large thermos of fragrant tea, apparently untraumatized by previous events.

Ivy comes to the party w Laurel but she is DEEPLY UNHAPPY to be in the GHOST WOODS so soon after the new moon and spends the entire evening being easily spooked.

Diego is still having a hard time feeling comfortable around Cecil and Levi, although he's trying to push through that. But for this get-together, it's still a little fresh, and he'll be looking to attach himself to other people. He does not want to talk about Sunday, and anyone who's tried has had an unusually hard time getting anything out of him.

"Tonight I just want to have a good time," he insists, smiling brightly and pouring himself a strong drink.

Avery make sure sure she gives Jesse a big hug and tells him happy birthday!

Jesse scoops her right up in his big, dumb, doughy arms and spins her around. Right off the bat, he is a little unsteady on his feet, but he returns her safely to the ground and claps his hands on her shoulders. "Thanks for coming, Avery. HEY EVERYBODY! Check it out! Avery's here," he shouts over his shoulder to the smattering of revelers, who definitely were already aware of Avery's presence.

To most people who don't know both Quinn and Jesse well, and thus don't understand the subtle nuances she insists exist in their relationship, the former's treatment of the latter may seem to border on abusive.

Any Most mistreatment she could direct towards the birthday boy is put on hold for the party. (She wouldn't be able to keep it up all day long so it's probably a good thing that she was in her library Cone of Silence until dinner.) While she's not quite as caring, loving, grateful, warm, affectionate, or appreciative as the card he received might lead one to expect, she does tone down the insults and expletives, and spends quite a bit of her night around Jesse. He even gets a couple hugs.

... Okay, so she can't resist the occasional cheap shot, but she won't try to bait him into many arguments! Not on his birthday!

(Maybe he's actually her best friend and she's actually a really sweet person deep down inside??? ... Naaaaaah.)

Two Jerks

Although he would NEVER admit it, Jesse was legitimately touched by Quinn's annual display of gratitude. Just the right amount of clever, condescending, and genuinely heartfelt. Mmm, magnifique!

He's been doing a little birthday boy day drinking, so he's already extra jolly by the time he spots his favorite little ragamuffin and aggressiveffectionately slings an arm around her shoulders. Why is your arm so heavy, Jesse? Why can't you support your own body weight, you slug? WHO KNOWS!

At some point fairly early on in the night, he tries to bully her into writing a journal entry for him. "I need you to ward the ten hottest girls..." he pauses and does a headcount of the girls already in attendance. He squints and makes a face like a malfunctioning cyborg, as he runs through some John Nash level game theory calculations in his head. Too many chicks and they will turn this into a complainy slumber party. Not enough chicks and one of them will get uncomfortable and drink too much and throw up and then all the other chicks will have to take her home.

"Wait, THREE hottest chicks. And use your wingwomany skills on them. I'm eighteen now. I'm officially legal in all fifty states," he reminds her, before adding generously, "Dealer's choice."

"OH! And get Dahlia and Wes over here too with their uh..." he removes his arm from around her shoulders (if she hadn't already shoved it off) and mimes an air guitar. "Y'know. Music and stuff."

Addy

As per tradition that I made up a second ago, at some point launched at Jesse's back and hugged tight and hung there for a minimum of thirty seconds. It is a parasitic display of affection and she Probably does this to everyone she loves and she is not sorry.

His favorite thing! "AAAAAADDYYYYYY," he bellows the minute he feels something barrel between his shoulder blades. He only stumbles a little before catching himself and looping his arms under her thighs to hoist her up. He is prepared to carry her around this way until her legs go numb.

Diego

Jesse gets an enthusiastic hug and as much chattering from Diego as he can probably handle. He hands Jesse his present. It's a tiny version of that Muggle game you love! Diego has no idea if it's accurate to the real game or not. His baseball knowledge is... questionable.

[To play, move the first batter to home plate and roll the dice. Locate the dice combination on one of the two outfield billboards and move your players accordingly. The dry erase scoreboard allows for speedy changes to team names and scores.]

Riley thinks Jesse is kind of (totally) gross. But. She doesn't think parties are gross, and if ALL OF HER ♥AZURBOYS♥ and ♥AZURBABES♥ are gonna be there then OKAY FINE SHE'LL MAKE AN APPEARANCE, IT'S WHAT YOU ALL WANT, RIGHT? gosh twist her arm don't break it.

But it's cold out, and Riley doesn't fucking like the cold, okay. She dragged Katya down to the Grotto, dragged her the fuck inside, wrapped them up in a ratty ass comforter she also dragged from the cabin, and declared that the zone for Riley & Katya Drinking and Smoking because fuck the police.

Chris has had a beautiful bruise encompassing most of his right eye for the entire day. So he's gonna show up at the party and still have a bruise and he still refuses to own up to how it happened So just an FYI. It can be mentioned in journal posts and shit all day - I'm just saying for the party, it's still there.
