VALENTINES: INDIVIDUALS

The atrium and cafeteria are bursting with flowers as Event Committee scrambles to get all the right orders to where they belong. It's chaotic, but the air is buzzing with excitement and the scent of fresh cut flowers.

WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN

• If you skip breakfast, the flowers will be left by your locker.


• It's difficult to trace who sent what if they didn't sign it. The organizers (Rafael, Laurel and Saira) may know a few details, but for the most part, it's completely anonymous.


• Mod Note: Laurel and Saira, if someone asks you for information about a particular delivery, contact me (Meggie) and I might dole out a detail. An example might be something like it was sent at the same time as a different order... which could be helpful, or might be horribly misleading.


• The identity of anonymous senders won't be revealed without player permission.


• If I made a mistake, comment in the OOC section, or if it needs to be anonymous, reply to Rafael's screened post.


• There were SO MANY valentines, we had to break this up. Gifts given to groups are HERE.

Tabitha has a sour start to the morning when she sees the flowers from Diego (or signed as such? Who knows?). In either case, she vanishes them straight away. She's slightly happier when she sees the yellow roses from Ravi, even after their fight, and knows she needs to speak to him later. When he's not with Diego.

She gasps a little when she sees the flowers from Nate, though, and goes to find him straight away. "I love them" she grins, and gives him a quick kiss. "Thank you!"

Vee was all about this day. It's her birthday, it's Valentine's Day, Ras left candy outside the cabin in addition to the gifts she got from him last night, etc. She woke up beaming, continued beaming into breakfast, and was really enjoying everyone reacting to their flowers and messages and everything else. As she was looking for Ras, her own flowers were presented to her, and that's when her mood shifted. She actually found herself flattered at first, especially since a mystery lady finds her appealing enough to pine for, but the message on the second bouquet makes her face fall. It's not that she's not flattered, but the reminder that Ras is graduating is a bit of a buzz kill.

Remembering herself, she tries to put the smile back on, but to anyone who knows her well there's something a little off all of a sudden.

She is a tad disturbed to see flowers coming her way - and she certainly was not expecting three different ones. The first two are a complete mystery. Just an "X" on the card and then a "Hey Hottie" but nothing else? She assumes the second ones could be from Etta, but wouldn't Etta have signed it? Penny stares really confused at these for a while until the third ones come,

Immediately Penny's head is up and she looks at Ryan, head tilted sideways. Could it really be? Did he really - was it - she thought after their last conversation there was no way but maybe he'd been thinking about it before and realized he HAD chosen wrong. Standing up, she makes her way to RYan's table.

Sylla remains unsurprised but gracious at the deliveries, save for the dozen white lilies. When presented with that bouquet, her eyes go wide and she seems to scan the rest of the hall almost suspiciously.

She still charms them to not wilt and carries all the flowers with her for the rest of the day. Because aesthetic.

Okay, well, these flowers freak Rosy out. Just, like, all of them. An anonymous bouquet of roses? They’re either from someone who knows this is how you freak her out, or someone who just made a lucky guess. Then this “you deserve so much better” bullshit? Well that’s obviously a joke (right? Right. Totally a joke.) And CP? There are only two people in this school with those initials and oh god these had better be from Chris.

AND WHY DID SY GET MORE ROSES THAN HER? Does anyone even like him? Come on.

“This is…not the right way to get in my pants,” she says to Chris, dropping all of the flowers on the table like they’re actually poison.

Reid receives his flowers, reads the card, and stares at Sy for a minute straight before concluding these are probably not from Sy. He seems really busy yelling about roses right now, though, and Reid doesn't want to interrupt him to ask.

After a quick glance around to make sure no one is watching him closely, he sticks his face in his bouquet. It's pretty satisfying.

Ulysses bought no flowers, because, well, the thought never occurred to him. Valentine's is for married people, and he is not married people. When he sees that he's received a whole bunch from his folks (both literal and Ebon-fam), though, he grins through a mouthful of toast and flashes them two thumbs up. There is absolutely no guilt about not reciprocating the very kind gesture because he's a jerk like that, but at least his pleasure is both obvious and genuine. Thank you! He loves you for loving him!

When he sees the orchids, he turns pink in the way only very white people can. It does not fade over the course of breakfast, although he puts on an admirable show of not noticing/caring — eating and joking around with the rest of the table. Every so often, he glances nervously down at his lap where he has stashed the note that came with the flowers. Each time he does, the blush reemerges full force.

Ravi's always liked Valentine's Day. He likes the romance of the season, and watching his friends receive flowers and gifts throughout the day. But this is the first year he's received something on Valentine's Day, and there's no doubt in Ravi's mind who the sender is when he sees the little potted succulent. A desert plant, like from the area around Moab.

His grin softens when he reads the accompanying note. He makes out only half of the Spanish on his own, and spends more time gazing at the little watercolour painting on the back. Ravi very carefully tucks it into one of his hardcover books, so it doesn't get creased or damaged.

He usually spends breakfast with his Ribbonfin friends, but he gets up now to find Diego. "Thank you. It's beautiful." Ravi's cradling the succulent to his chest with both hands.

Jacob

Jacob watches all these bouquets arriving with growing discomfort. Maybe he should have listened to Diego and Ravi after all. He can't even remember what he wrote on the stupid card, just that he needed to write something. Did he even manage to say he liked Isaiah? Was that just kind of implied by the whole flower thing? Shit.

When his bouquet arrives, it takes an extra long moment to realize they're being handed to him. They're the orange roses he'd almost picked out for Isaiah, but then he'd panicked over the whole roses being serious thing. When he reads the card, he can feel his face getting warm.

He tries to catch Isaiah's eye across the room and if he does, he'll... wave? He's acing this romance thing, guys.

This is all quite breathtaking. Damon is perfectly happy to enjoy the sheer number of flowers flying about. When two bundles come his way he has to double check that they weren't given in error, but accepts them with enthusiastic thanks.

He grins at Ennis' note, then laughs out loud at the one attached to the roses. His ears go a bit pink.

Cash isn't really sure what to make of his flowers, but he's preeeeeetty sure someone is fucking with him. Big time. Actually, this was so unexpected that it has disrupted his whole plan for the day. He takes another bite of egg and eyes the buttercups with suspicion.

When a bunch of roses arrives for her, she can't help raising her (immaculately groomed) eyebrows. How intriguing. After reading the accompanying card, she slips it into her pocket so no one else can see it, and allows herself a satisfied smirk.

The bouquet from Wilde- "Wilde?"- is equally baffling. One, she is fairly certain that Wilde does not like this holiday, or the commercialism inherent in purchasing flowers that will shortly die in order to express affection. Also, what?

As the flowers get passed out, she is handed a pretty red flower from Raf, a few daisies from Ree, and an anonymous sunflower. She's pleased, and figures that's about it, setting them aside to dig into breakfast and-- oh, hey, what.

Someone hands her a full dozen sunflowers and she takes them a bit awkwardly. They're unsigned, and she glances around the room, wondering-

Oh, uh, wait, more flowers??? A bunch of purple roses, unsigned, but there's a bear pun, which is a clear identity indicator. But, these are just a prank right? Tess is pretty sure Maggie isn't interested. Then again, a dozen is a lot for a prank. But then, there are some rich assholes at this school. It's probably definitely a prank. Right?

Tess sets all the flowers to the left of her tray in a careful (large) pile and doesn't look around the cafeteria anymore during breakfast.

Ree is delighted. Valentine's day is the best. Flowers are so pretty. She runs around giving all of her friends kisses and then makes herself a flower crown.

Irene

At first, Irene thinks there's been a mistake -- are you sure these flowers are meant for her? When she is assured that yes, they are, she opens the card. Oh, how exasperating. How can she be somebody's Valentine if they won't identify themselves? Still a little skeptical, she glances around the cafeteria to see if anyone in particular seems to be watching her for her reaction.

Leo

Leo initially panics upon the great flower delivery. He immediately regrets not trying to dig more dragots out or begging; he only had about 20 to spend on flowers. Faced now by what feels like a giant wall of roses, they feel incredibly insufficient. But when his own flowers arrive, and he finds he knows enough Spanish to read the note...he can't help but smile slow, letting whoever is around see him looking like an idiot for an all too extended period of time. He goes to find Rafael, right away. He feels almost shy, and what the hell is that supposed to mean. He even looks at the ground before his boyfriend's face, like he's twelve. He makes himself snap out of that. Jesus, Leo. " So. If these aren't from you, this conversation's gonna go kind of awkward. " He warns, first of all.

And if he sees that other large bouquet Rafael got, he will steadfastly ignore it.

Bash & Gabi

Bash greets his bouquet with a bright grin that almost immediately vanishes as he pales and lets out a vehement "Ah, fuck." before waving a hand and taking off like a bat out of hell.

He returns a few minutes later, out of breath and cradling a small pot of miniature roses and skidding to a halt by Gabi's table. Despite his own disheveled appearance, the pot remains in order and the wrapping on the little box that accompanies it is immaculate. The back of the notecard, however, is blessed by Bash's atrociously hasty handwriting:

so cut flowers make me sort of anxious? which is totally weird, but - they're already dead, but they just haven't figured it out yet? and i didn't want to give you corpses something you couldn't see growing and stuff. cause that's super addams family - which is GREAT, don't get me wrong - but you're, like, all sunshiney and awesome and stuff? so -

uh, we kind a stole these from my gram's garden (me and ariel, i mean. i guess she's my illegal flower dealer now?) so if i disappear in the middle of the night only to be found, like - i don't know, stabbed through the neck by knitting needles or something? you know why. but it was totally worth it.

Chris is pleased as punch when he gets a dozen roses and he doesn't even like flowers. And also a music box? Which wasn't even on the list of options? But it's the fucking Beatles and its poetic as fuck.

Regardless of whether or not he's sitting at the same table as Robin, he still makes eye contact with robin after reading the card and either says or shouts (if necessary) dude fondly. Hell yeah he's keeping this shit. About to make the cabin pretty as fuck is what he's about to do.

Katya was happily surprised to get anything this morning and quickly found Ree after getting her deliveries. Claiming Ree is literally the most adorable girl in the world and handing over a few boxes of chocolate, Katya happily went along her way. The other flowers were a bit more troubling. Having a feeling that the flowers might not have come from Casper and not wanting to make a huge scene out of it if they didn't, Katya scribbled a small note onto a piece of paper and headed over to find Casper.

Dropping one of her sunflowers on the table next to him, she happily smiled and said "Happy Valentine's Day!" before leaving again. The note was simple. If these are from you, thank you and we should talk. If not at least I didn't get you candy!".
