Glad the power is back. It was getting to be a bit much. It lost it's novelty pretty quick. ~~I kind of thought it made an opportunity to get back at me.~~

I still don't see what the big deal is. It's not like there's plugs in our rooms that everyone was missing out on. I don't even get why people bring their phones to school. There's no little bars to catch. They're just expensive alarm clocks that break easily.

I'm forced to agree. What are we using electricity for that we can't substitute with magic?

Whether the electricity's of any personal use is beyond the point. It's a service that is covered by our tuition and therefore should be available.

A brief summary of my response to Levi. I don't care about the electronic gadgets. I do agree we use magic for everything. But when the school is lighted by electricity, it is a bit annoying when it is not there. Had they chosen to light it by different means then this would not be an issue. So this is what I refer to when I say novelty. It got annoying to light by another means. I am fine to do the lighting charms, but if you decide to power with lights then that is what I expect. I went on just fine, but not everyone could have. It did supply a learning opportunity at least.

I don't care about the phone aspect. Mine is turned off upon arrival and stays off until I get close to home to let them know I'm on route. My issue comes from the fact we were in the dark. Sure, I have the lighting charms down, but when the school chooses a light source that comes from electricity it is annoying. Yeah sure we can work in another manner, but the school is not set up for it. So this is what I refer to when I say novelty. I went on fine, it just got annoying. I don't care on the electronic gadget aspect I don't use them.

Yeah, but it was just in the lodge and just on some of the trails. The whole school's not run on electricity, just those two areas. I barely even noticed except for everyone whining about their dead Muggle tech because the charge stations were out.

Yeah I know it was just but the novelty did wear off. Who cares about muggle tech when we are here.

Okay, then is it Purist for me to say that I'm not sure why we use electricity here in the first place? I understand having the outlets for student needs, but I don't know why we're using it to light things when we have magic.

I get that. Maybe just trying to distinguish from other magical schools?

It's just a matter of what we're used to. Those of us raised the No-Maj way like our phones and fans and blenders-that-we're-not-technically-supposed-to-have-in-the-cabins because they're familiar and comfortable, those of you raised with magic (or Yes-Maj) prefer spells that do the same things. If you were in a No-Maj school wouldn't you be trying to do magic?

Yeah, but Yes-Majes have Yes-Maj versions of some of those No-Maj items. The only thing we don't have is TV and internet and phones and I'm not really sure how any of those even work, but our magic fucks with it anyway.

YOU CAN'T EVEN USE YOUR FANS IN THE CAMPS, THERE'S NO ELECTRICITY. YOU HAVE TO USE THOSE WEIRD CYLINDER THINGS THAT ARE NEVER IN THE RIGHT SIZE AND NEVER TURNED THE RIGHT WAY.

I wouldn't go to a No-Maj school, but if I did then using magic there would be illegal. AND I AM AGAINST BREAKING THE LAW. I AM A GOOD BOY.

Electricity's only really useful for powering the internet anyway. Unless it's for Riley's scary hair machines.

I don't use it much when I am here. And Riley's hair machines are not scary.

She told me they mess up your fingers if you get one in its clamps. How is that not scary?

It is easy not to clamp your fingers.

I don't have enough of it to straighten, but if I did, these curls could give your hair clamps quite the challenge.

You'd have to slip me a hair growth potion, and I promise you, the results would not be hot. I look like I'm a creepy mountain man if I stop shaving and cutting my hair.

I sort of liked it. A very rustic experience, you know? You could imagine how wizards in medieval times lived, by lamps and their own wands.

It was rustic and a bit of a "how they once lived". It wasn't too bad. ~~I just might not like the dark too much.~~
