Somehow, it's reassuring to know Gooseberry hasn't grown any less strange after all this time.

I realize our house is generally the least troublesome when it comes to these issues, but Mr. Calderon-Boot has a valid point about how anonymity tends to bring out people's less charitable sides. If the New Moon posts do return this year, us prefects will have very limited ability to regulate bullying and abusive comments.

I know I can trust you all to not feed into any of that. Please be kind and continue to represent Ribbonfin well, even when no one knows you're a Ribbonfin. If all of us refuse to encourage cruelty, then it will have no room to sprout.

Last thing we need is bullying and abusive comments. So I the posts don't return.

I'm inclined to agree, but Mr. Calderon-Boot has been trying shut them down for... what is it, two years now? They popped up when we were sophomores? And it sounds like he hasn't figured out the source of them yet.

I fear the source comes from our class. Maybe will disappear? Who knows.

Oh, I don't want to imagine that one of our classmates is responsible... Maybe it was last year's graduating class? I suppose we'll see tomorrow.

I'm still waiting for my vampires.

I'm not sure Utah is known for their roving bands of vampires. For one, all the desert would be rather inhospitable.

Vampires, Ravi. They people. Maybe they herd cattle and take multiple wives or whatever people do here. But at night. Maybe they're hiking enthusiasts. Maybe they have really fulfilling hobbies.

Vampire cattle herders sounds like a romance novel I saw once. And if they thought of it too, then who's to say Mormon vampire ranchers don't exist?

I stay away from those. They make me anxious, especially given people's propensity for gossiping about the suffering of others.

That would be best policy, honestly. But somehow I suspect we're in the minority when it comes to ignoring the posts altogether. At least it's only words?

People have already made up their minds about whether or not they'll participate. And a lot of people will say they'd never touch it, but they'll be reading every word anyway.

Curiosity about human nature is nothing to be ashamed about. The New Moon posts always bring fascinating insights about the people we go to school with.

I know. Advising people to avoid the posts is an exercise in futility, as I've learned in years past. I can't entirely fault people for being fascinated.

I know. I know. I just thought that if they're going to do it anyway (and since it's Diego and Levi, they probably are) it'd be better to have them do it in the cabin where I can keep things in check.

Well, I can't fault you on your logic. It is Diego and Levi, and they would absolutely find somewhere else to do it if you said no. I was promised that it would be an extremely mild party, and I'm sure it will be, with you around.

Definitely mild. I want them to have fun, but I won't let them overdo it.

I'm glad. They did well in choosing you as Head Boy, and I know you'll handle it. I mean, you've been their cabin prefect since sophomore year. Those guys trust you, and I don't think they want to ever let you down.

Now you're encouraging me to break curfew too? Cecil! Okay, no, I'm teasing you now. Diego invited me already, actually. I was debating it, but it sounds like I won't be the only Ribbonfin there, and... perhaps you might appreciate a fellow non-drinking companion?

Anonymity turns people into monsters. Just, everyone, try to remember every anonymous comment is tied to a real person, okay? And it's someone you probably see every day, so watch what you say.

Thank you, Rosy. That's an extremely good point, and something we should all keep in mind.

Maybe we should just look at this as an opportunity to hang up the badge for a night and not feel compelled to remove points from people.

Thinking of letting your hair down and enjoying the show like the rest of the kids? I don't know if I'll be able to turn it off. Maybe instead of taking points away I'll just start lecturing.

Sigh, no, I try to ignore it. But the page will be sitting there in my journal for awhile, and... you know what they say about curiosity and cats.

I mean, usually it's not all bad, but sooner or later you flip to what is clearly some freshmen airing their petty grievances against each other, and just regret the whole thing. I mean, I hope it's freshmen.
