Casey doesn't know what he's talking about. It's called Parseltongue. It can be genetic, but it's rare, it's special. And it gets shit because some dark wizard could do it, but he doesn't own the ability. He doesn't decide if it's dark magic or not just because he chose to use it for dark magic.

You forge your own path. You don't wanna do dark magic, don't do dark magic. Your parseltongue doesn't have anything to do with that decision. Nothing is inherently evil.

Exactly. All Parseltongue means is that get to talk to snakes and none of us do. And that sounds pretty badass to me.

That's probably an overstatement. But there are certainly some pragmatic uses (I'm going to go out near the trail and mark where her den is; if people keep getting so close, they might provoke her unintentionally) and [...] I like it. I think. I feel sort of connected to them and I think they feel sort of connected to me. There's a kinship there. Or just trust, maybe. It's difficult to articulate.
