Chris doesn't look intimidated. But he does stop to stare down at Rosy. To really stare at her, and take her in. He's looked at her before, obviously, they were dating - that's just what dating people did. But he's looking at her different now. Fully taking her in; just how the light of the bonfire reflects off of her face, the way her hair looks, the way her fake indignation looks on her face. And the words coming out of her mouth. It's just a ... really nice picture. He really likes her, he decides.
It doesn't feel like it, but he probably stares at her way longer than is socially acceptable. Like for a solid two minutes. And then after he's had his very important internal dialogue, he realizes that he's still staring down at her, and decides to stop, but then forgets about that decision, so he keeps staring at her. "Want a smore?" He asks, which is much more helpful than just staring, at least.
