SOPHOMORE BONDING

SOPHOMORE BONDING
Ms. Rhee has arranged a small, gently treacherous trail hike near the Ribbonfin campgrounds. All of the Sophomores will be paired off, and will each take a turn being blindfolded. Their partner must then hold their hand and walk them down the trail, warning them of obstacles and keeping them safe. Each student will have a chance to lead, and a chance to follow.
After this amazing bonding activity that surely brought everyone closer together, the Sophomores will be treated to a hearty barbecue, with grilled pineapple and ice cream for dessert. There will be vegetarian and vegan options available.

Sophomore bonding takes place on Friday, October 7th, at 4:30 PM. All the sophomores meet in the lodge and are given the name of the student they're being paired with. They then follow Mrs. Rhee and Rosemary Stoker, Wesley Carpenter and Magdalen Gillis down to a trail near the forests around Ribbonfin.
Volunteers: You must be in good standing with the school and Ms. Rhee herself (i.e. no troublemakers! If you volunteer and your character might be considered inappropriate, Ms. Rhee may turn you away). You'll be helping to herd sophomores, and will assist in setting up the food and make sure everyone lines up in an orderly fashion. You'll be rewarded with some of that delicious BBQ, and getting to watch younger kids stumble around in the woods awkwardly.

But so does Maggie.

But Maggie is her favourite student so yes of course Ms. Rhee would be happy to have her help!

Calvin & Charlotte
During the actual activity, Calvin just wants to GET THIS OVER WITH. When it's his turn to lead, he tries to usher things along quickly, and isn't overly concerned about whether or not Charlotte is stumbling or sometimes getting some leaves in the face.

And then when it's Calvin's turn to lead, the heckling then becomes EVERCREECH YOU BETTER WATCH HER CLOSELY, I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU IF MY SWEET CHARLOTTE STUBS ONE LITTLE TOE
(Volunteers, please feel free to be the one who tells him to stop.)

When she is the leader she refuses to hold his hand and sort of pushes him through rather forcefully and loudly shouts instructions at him and everything has a sense of urgency. "OH MY GOD CALVIN WATCH OUT FOR THE HOLE IT IS RIGHT THERE YOU ARE GONNA FALL FLAT ON YOUR FACE." The hole is actually a respectable distance. Though when opportunity presents itself when Calvin is blindfolded she gets way too close like lips near touching ear to whisper Micah things your cute. After she turns to Micah flips him the bird and yells "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ASSHOLE."

Will totally tried to avoid gazing over at what Micah and Frankie were up to though. Because he loooooves her. Sorry Ferris, he'll try to not be too distracted!
Joanna is going to be METICULOUS at this and will try and avoid making it competitive ;)

After all she is super excited about this.

Essie & Joanna
Unfortunately, when it's her turn to lead, it becomes very apparant that Essie isn't so great at giving directions that are of much use. There's a lot of "No, no, not that way, THAT way" while pointing and "Walk forward.. not THAT forward!!!" She is, however, VERY APOLOGETIC if Joanna injures herself.
Micah & Frankie
Overall, he's not remotely competitive about getting to the "finish line" first, and will be having a really good time with everything. C:
Maybe too good of a time SORRY CALVINRe: Micah & Frankie

Micah & Frankie
Frankie will probably spend a good three seconds in a mildly blind panic when first blindfolded - can't see, can't hear, going to die! - but will quickly even out and not squeeze the living hell out of Micah's fingers. Plus, she'd be a giggling mess at stage-directions, let's be real. And would most definitely hold any poses as demanded. While grinning.
She'd be equally attentive when it was Micah's turn with the lack-of-vision, though probably a little less epic with her instructions. She's good at nonverbal prompting, would be all about the teeny little touches to shoulders and sides and hips.
But yeeeeah. Doesn't care if they win. Too busy laughing.

Pippa & Cole
Unfortunately, words are not his forte and he doesn't do nearly as well in leading. He is forever offering instructions too late, giving poor Pippa the wrong directions (his left instead of her left), and becomes quieter and quieter each time he botches it. To those without blindfolds, he looks like he might want to run away into the forest rather than continue. If Pippa is about to fall or anything, though, he'll try his best to catch her.

She did not like being blindfolded, and clutched at Cole with a slightly sweatier hand. Anyone who looked over and saw her at this point would have noticed she was biting her lip and her forehead was creased with concentration. Thanks to Cole's, uh, less than stellar instructions, she tripped over a few times -- although luckily each time she either managed to right herself or have Cole catch her before she completely faceplanted. When she got to the end of the trail she tugged the blindfold down and took in big gulps of air like she'd actually been trapped in a small dark space. I THOUGHT BONDING EXERCISES WERE SUPPOSED TO BE FUN. :(

Susana and Gabi
When it's her turn to lead, she's surprisingly articulate and helpful. She doesn't want Gabi to get hurt, after all, and it is kind of like a competition. She isn't outwardly trying to win but her tenacity is hard to ignore. Following, though, is not as easy. As nice as Gabi is, Ana still hates being told what to do, and much prefers to be in control. She gets visibly frustrated each time she missteps or stumbles, though would never do more than grit her teeth and keep trying. Nobody can yell at Gabi, after all. :)
