STAFF CRACKS DOWN

Today, there is a mandatory assembly before dinner. Ms. Vector first gives a run down of the procedure for attending prom tomorrow. Students will be taken on buses to a location where there is a portkey service to the space that was rented for the evening. If they plan on returning to the school and not staying the night, they will be brought back to campus at 11:00 PM.

If students are staying overnight, they're reminded to pack appropriately. There will be a continental breakfast in the morning, and everyone will return to campus at 10:00 AM.

This is quickly followed by a stern reminder that anti-prom is strictly forbidden, as is the Grotto. Students found going to the Grotto will receive detention, lose house points, and may be suspended from extracurriculars like clubs and Quidditch teams. They'll find that there's now a fence blocking the way to the path that leads to the Grotto, which will alert staff if people jump it or go around it.

It looks like anti-prom might be nothing but a dream, unless some enterprising volunteer finds another way...

Micah's an Azurcrest, there's a lot he can withstand when it comes to punishment. Detention, loss of points, scoldings from beloved prefects and teachers, the almost-certain threat of death. But Quidditch. The season's over, and Micah's "only" a reserve, but with Etta, Levi, Quinn and Dru leaving next year...

"Maybe we shouldn't go?" Micah mutters to Calvin.

Calvin & Micah

Calvin is stubborn. Despite all his complaining and apparent feet-dragging when he has to do basically anything, Calvin doesn't like to give up. He doesn't like to be controlled, or guilt tripped. He doesn't like when anyone disregards his no's, even if he's being unreasonable or contrary. But he heard the bit about the Quidditch teams and clubs too. If Calvin's leaving, then nothing he gets in trouble for matters. But Micah's staying here. How long would they keep Micah out? Would he not be eligible for first string anymore?

His stomach sinks when he thinks about a night alone in his cabin with Cole, though. That old familiar feeling of emotional claustrophobia threatens to set in.

"Maybe," he says in a low tone so only Micah can hear. Calvin goes still, and bites his lip before suddenly adding: "Yeah. We shouldn't. But, ah, can we still..." Calvin gestures between the two of them. "Even if we don't go?"
