BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY

The Grotto emerges the way it always does when a Gooseberry student seeks it: suddenly and all at once, breaking from the densely packed trees to reveal a grassy circular clearing. In the dirt center is a bonfire, already roaring hot, with nearby coolers filled with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (spelled to stay cold all night, so enjoy yourselves for as long as you want). Large, well-worn wooden logs serve as seats around the bonfire. Occasionally, the party music stops to allow some students to riff on guitars.

On the edge of the clearing sits an ancient-looking stone house, overgrown with moss and vines. Someone's dressed it up with softly twinkling magical lights, and the interior is surprisingly warm and bright, with hanging lanterns and several conjured beanbag chairs. The sound of a bottle spinning on the stone floor, and accompanying whoops and cheers, continues throughout the night.

The back-to-school party begins after curfew, and students must sneak out and through the deep forest to get to the Grotto. (Depending on who your prefect is, this might be very easy or mildly difficult. Prefect patrols are not yet active, and staff is politely pretending they don't know what's going on.) The party ends at... well, there's no class tomorrow, so you kids can sort that out amongst ourselves.

RULES

1. Teen peer pressure (and player sadism) aside, no one is obligated to do anything they don't want to. Characters doing Seven Minutes In Heaven can spend the time just talking or staring awkwardly at each other, and characters playing Spin The Bottle can opt out of a kiss (although people will probably boo).


2. If characters get up to anything more racy than PG-13, please fade to black on that. ;)


3. If you'd like to say two characters were partners in STB or 7MIH in addition to what's been rolled, feel free! Obviously, get the permission of all involved characters first.


4. If your character is coming late to the game, please jump in anyway! You can post here and ask for volunteers to kiss your character during STB or 7MIH, if you wish.

Below, the post will be divided into the different areas, so go ahead and comment below describing what your character did, who they talked to, etc. Have fun, and try not to get into too much trouble.

» On The Way: The path to the party is a long walk in the dark, from your house campsite and into the deep woods. Students aren't supposed to be out after curfew, but who's listening to that rule tonight?

» Around The Bonfire: The center of the Grotto is warm and comfortable, and less crowded than the House. You're sure to find someone to talk to here, and if you don't want to talk, there's beer and soda in the coolers, and plenty of marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers for s'mores. Bins for empty bottles and cans are also located here. Don't litter, guys, seriously.

» By The Treeline: If parties aren't your thing, then this is the closest you'll get to being a wallflower. Also, if you and a friend need some privacy, there's no better place than behind the trees...

» Stone House: It was only a matter of time before someone emptied their first beer and called for some kissing games. Spin The Bottle is first, escalating to Seven Minutes In Heaven later during the night.

• Spin The Bottle: Everyone sits in a circle and takes turns spinning the bottle to find their partner. Anyone who squeezes in (or happens to be accidentally standing behind a gap in the circle) gets a shot at a kiss. People can leave and enter the game at any time. Participants will be encouraged by their drunken classmates to kiss on the mouth.
• Seven Minutes in Heaven: "Heaven" is a narrow, closet-sized room adjacent to the main party, and is dark except for some cracks of light from the door. (The "door" being a heavy wooden board that's propped against the doorway and magically "locked" for seven minutes.) You can use your wand to get more light, but really, you two should be making out.

» After the Party: Take care with making your way back! The woods are feeling kind tonight, so you're not likely to run into anything more than the usual trouble of stumbling back to your cabin after one too many drinks. But still—don't tempt fate. And don't forget to clean up after yourselves.

Diego is one of the first people to head out to the Grotto to deliver the "supplies" he went with Katya and Riley to get yesterday. All afternoon he was looking for people to charm into helping him set things up, and anyone who wasn't likely to tell on him was fair game.

He was kind of tired from all that hiking the other day, but the closer he got to the Grotto, the more he perked up.

Tabitha walked down by herself to clear her head, so by the time she got there she'd have stumbled at least once.

UNLESS SARA SAYS OTHERWISE, Calvin went down to the Grotto with Regan! He was pretty tense about the whole ordeal, but was also trying to not be a wet blanket and mess up Regan's fun. He's always weird before parties, but calms down once things get started.

Chloe grabbed Kurt to head down to the grotto - to make sure he goes and also so she doesn't get lost in the woods.

After primping like you do and changing clothes about four times, Katya finally got drug back to the grotto while looking like she was really doing rounds or whatever she was supposed to be doing. Needless to say Riley and Katya arrived after already having a drink or two in the cabin.

That's right I'm going to npc the crap out of Riley cause Alex said I could.

Anuhea made her way to the Grotto with Ravinder, cause she promised to be his guide after all. Probably gave them some time to chat too.

Nate hung around the Ebonhide cabins a little bit later than the rest, just to make sure any newbies who wanted to get there didn't end up getting lost in the woods. He's not here to stop partying, just to encourage responsible partying.

Holden was already out looking for his lost turtle in the woods, and accidentally stumbled into the party he had been trying to avoid. By then it was too late, and he got pulled into the party by others and the sheer power of peer pressure. (Volunteers to coerce him to stay?)

Levi was dressed in Tumblr hipster chic and was already puffing on his vape (he knows and is self-aware) as he wandered down to the Grotto. He could probably get there with his eyes closed by now.

Anyone's welcome to say that they traveled with him! He would've made the rounds to check on his friends before leaving, if they hadn't already left yet.

Tess showed up late, because she wasn't going to go at all, but she figures 1) faculty and staff definitely know this is going on, and are politely pretending not to, so that's their way of condoning it, right? 2) someone responsible needs to be here to take care of these crazy people. WATER BETWEEN DRINKS, PEOPLE!

She's not scared to walk down by herself, but if there were any other stragglers, she would hang with them.

Dominic was boisterous and in the spirit of fun for this thing. He probably joked that as he and Kurt both have September birthdays, that Coppertale and Ribbonfin need to pull their fingers out after this party.

Tabitha was quieter than usual but still did a lot of talking to her closer friends - most of the Senior Ribbonfins, plus the likes of Kurt, Holden and Levi from other houses/years. She clearly avoided looking at Diego and Anuhea and probably walked over to the treeline at some point.

Zoey was in pretty good spirits and probably noticeably tipsy/giggly/laughing at everything. She made the rounds to say hi & chat & give hugs. May have fallen asleep at some point much later in the night, woken up, and rallied again :p

Katya obviously would have chatted to everyone offering high fives or hugs what we she figured you'd like best but of course offering drinks to everyone and making sure no one ran out of whatever they were drinking. Basically Katya will look after you while you drink while holding a large vodka because she likes being a stereotype. Though the more she drinks the bit louder and more Russian she gets. By the end she might have been yelling in Russian at people.

Chloe is avoiding the alcohol, but poking around the bonfire area looking for the fixings for smores. Someone did bring it, right? That's literally the only good pay of this camping stuff.
