LAUGHING DRAUGHT DISASTER

Seniors in Potions are working on laugh-inducing draughts. Takeru Maeda gets a little overzealous in their potion making, and the fumes hit everyone in the class (including Mr. Elmasry) very hard. Senior Potions students spend the rest of the day finding everything absolutely hilarious, and are impossible to talk sense to until well past dinner.

HOW THIS WORKS

Senior potions is at 3PM, effects last until "well after dinner." That's plenty of time to wish for the icy hand of the Grim Reaper to take you and/or your classmates.

Consider the following: if someone said "Know what happens to a toad that gets hit by lightning? Same thing that happens to everything else," to one of these poor sods, they'd have to laugh at that. And then live with that fact for the rest of their lives.

There's just enough time between the clinking noise of an ingredient bottle being fumbled against a cauldron and the "fwump!" of a potion going haywire for Takeru to say, "Oh, oops."

This is...so bad. Takeru looks at the plume erupting from his cauldron and titters. And then doesn't stop. Can't stop. He tries to hold it in, but just ends up snorting, which makes him laugh even harder. What a hilarious mistake!

Please don't fail him Mr. Elmasry.

Kazim only lifts his eyebrows because mistakes happen, it's no big deal—and besides, mistakes make for interesting solutions. He thinks. It's kind of hard to think? Or, it's kind of hard to think about how to account for Takeru's error because the fact that his roommate made it at all is... funny?

Yes, it's definitely funny.

He doesn't say anything as he covers his mouth with his elbow. Why is it so funny? He can't figure it out, but the effort to keep from bursting out laughing is enough to make him double over. Oh, no.

Takeru puts a hand on Kazim's shoulder. Not for support but to steady himself as he guffaws. The site of his roommate laughing is shocking and new and completely hysterical.

"We will...make it through this." Takeru promises as he hisses out more laughter.
