WATER BALLOON FIGHT

It's a hot day, perfect for the annual water balloon fight at Gooseberry. Students rush to strategize and plan, while the teachers are, for once, not pitted against one another. They sit back and watch, watching their students affectionately. The school year's almost over, and what a year it's been. There are promises to do a proper investigation of the grounds once the kids are gone, or so the rumors say.

None of that seems terribly important when you're staring down a dozen water balloons, though! The balloons are all in an assortment of house colors, and the freshmen are out in earnest to make everyone's lives harder. Represent your year, show them which class has the most gusto! Whatever you do, don't let the freshmen win!

HOW THIS WORKS

• This time, the teams are sorted by year, not by house!


• Each team has their own home base, which is an area blocked off by quickly propped up wooden boards to protect everyone from enemy fire.


• At the home bases are buckets full of water balloons. You can also catch your breath and get a drink.


• The event begins at 2 PM in the lightly forested area near the Ornery Oak, so there's plenty of cover and the area is well-traversed. No one will get lost or feel threatened by the forest. Something about the Oak makes you feel safe.


• Dress code: If they wish, boys can go shirtless and girls can be in sports bras or bikini tops.


• If you want to participate, post your character to the header comment below with the appropriate year: Sophomore, Junior or Senior. We will then RNG them a score between 1 and 50 that will go to their year's point total.


• The points are not IC canon and are just an abstract measure of the character's performance.


• Those who made correct accusations at the prom murder mystery will earn their teams extra balloons, but the real advantage is this: Each character who made a correct guess may give one person on their team a re-roll. If someone on your team gets a very poor roll, just reply to their score with the proper character journal and ask for the mods to re-roll for them.
  • The qualifying characters are: Clementine Decourt, Bianca Dubois, Damon Evercreech, Cecil Honeychurch, Estella Morales-Tran, Tess Noble & Rosemary Stoker.
• The winning year will only receive bragging rights IC, but OOC will get a supernatural event later.


• We'll be doing rolls until midnight, Sunday June 18th. Then we'll have our winners!


• You can throw balloons at anyone, including teammates. The rules are loose, and who wins is a little subjective. It's up to the players to determine whether or not their character is hit. The freshmen are also running around trying to get people.

How are they playing?: Kazim would actually prefer to be taking a rest right now but he needs to rep Ebonhide. He's gotta. Of course, 'repping' is flexible. He's kicked back in a lawn chair in the seniors' home base, levitating water balloons over their barrier and dropping them blindly (and lazily) into the fray. He might hit his fellow seniors, his 'throws' might be disqualified, and he might be attacking nothing but the ground—none of these prospects bother him.

When he runs out of balloons he tips his boater hat over his eyes and tries for a snooze. Please don't draw a moustache on his face.

And so he's back to the tried-and-true method of flinging them one at a time. He's overdoing it. Of course. And probably slipped and fell at one point. But he also, I mean, absolutely beans Kazim with one while he's napping. "Party foul!" He shouts, sort of angrily, when he does this. Napping in the sun during a water balloon fight is a party foul in the loosest sense of the term.

And once the novelty of waterballooning underclassmen has worn off, he turns on his own senior Coppertales and is both ruthless and relentless.

How are they playing?: Yo, so like, ordinarily Anuhea is 2 cool 4 skool when it comes to dumb bonding type activities, but like dodgeball, this water balloon fight is right up her alley. So... yeah, she's having a good time with it. Anuhea's got a good arm and a healthy respect for people who can take a hit from a water balloon. She's predominantly trying to earn points for her team, but sorry seniors — some of her friends are getting hit.

He will be in the thick of this battle til it's won. He will treat this with every bit of intensity as he has any Quidditch match. Kinda.

Buuuut he will also save the best water balloons to ambush his great love/most worthy opponent with. And also some great friends/his former team/ other worthy opponents. They're still water balloons.

Figuring out life or what have you, but now she's about to bean some underclassmen in the face with some water balloons, and a lot. She's still at least trying to have fun with it though?

She will lovingly aim a few balloons at Sun-mi, but mostly she's targeting anyone who looks WEAK. (I'm kidding. She'll go after anyone.)

How are they playing?: Usually gung-ho*20 about pointless traditions (especially the competitive ones), Quinn didn't plan to attend. She only agreed because Nate is probably going to die, and she has a pressing exam question for one of the Coppertales that she's trying to remember. The good news is that, despite exhaustion and 'FUCK I should be STUDYING what the HELL, YOU GUYS' levels of stress, on a normal day she'd want to stab anyone who saw her wearing her glasses. And this genius slept with her contacts in last night, so GUESS WHO'S OUT FOR BLOOD? If you so much as look at her, you're getting a balloon aimed at your head. There will probably be no apologies.

If he can hit someone without being seen first - he's all about that shit.

This is partly because she can't see a foot in front of her goddamn face, partly because she knows she's coming up on the Ornery Oak and doesn't want to get walloped, and partly because she hears... shouting? It doesn't sound angry, but it also doesn't sound like what one would normally hear around a crotchety old tree. What the hell?

She blinks, owlish, trying to work it out. She can't. Walking through whatever this is without being able to see what's going on could be dangerous and she's not about to get sent to the infirmary four days before exams. Even if it's probably nice and quiet in there, and
