CHECKING IN ON AZURCREST

It's not long before Laurel returns to Azurcrest with Mr. Calderon-Boot at her side. He can't stand these pranks, and by the time he arrives he's quite agitated. However, as soon as he reaches the campsite, he takes a deep breath, pats Laurel on the shoulder, and regains his composure.

A few things are going to happen:

• He quickly lights the fire pit in the middle of the campground.


• He's going to go to each cabin individually, and ask the students to come out to the fire pit and sit down. He asks Cecil, Quinn and Jesse to help gather everyone. He also asks that they call in all of the vigilantes that ran off to find the perpetrator.


• The exception will be the junior Azurcrest girls' dorm. He'll try to coerce Katya to come down to Healer Mufferaw's with him, where she will be given a calming draught and can stay the night. He asks Riley to help by gathering her things, and says that Riley may come and stay with her.


• Before going, he gives a quick talk to the gathered Azurcrests, saying Merrill will be on his way. He wants the prefects to do a head count before he arrives.

[OOC: Because of tonight's reaction, we may need to do revisions to this month's plot calendar. The mods are currently discussing what to do, but please be aware. If things do change, we'll compensate anyone whose character is affected because they claimed a Lake Gooseberry Killer slot on the plot calendar. ♥]

Cecil, still trying to get a complete understanding of the situation and still trying (but failing) to restore order to the Azurcrest camp, is there to meet Mr. Calderon-Boot when he arrives. While he's still tense, the presence of the teacher is a relief and he's quick to follow instructions, helping to gather the students that are still there and sending out journal messages* to those that aren't. He'll also answer any questions that Mr. Calderon-Boot might have as well as he can and apologize for letting things get out of control. Though everything escalated so quickly and he doesn't know what he could've done to stop it.

*There will be no actual posts, unless the Mods want there to be?

Laurel is feeling hella sheepish and wondering if she might have overreacted by getting a professor (but knives!). She sits by herself at the fire while everyone else is gathering around, looking paler by the second but trying to pretend that nothing is amiss. :s

It would feel wrong not to mention what Jesse was doing at the time of the headcount.

Jesse had been deep undercover in Wall Street, working on a piece of investigative journalism that he was sure would become his Senior Project.

Mr. Calderon-Boot reassures Cecil this isn't his fault, and he knows he's trying. Oh, god, how he is trying.

"Cecil, stay with them by the fire pit. Assure them that everything is fine," he says kindly. "Merrill will probably be staying the night up here. He understands that you're all under a lot of stress right now, and we're here for you."

Cecil does his best to reassure Essie, telling her that Diego sent him a journal message not long ago asking him to check on her, but that he hadn't had time to find her before Mr. Calderon-Boot arrived. He gives her a firm hug (if she'll allow it) and tells her that the others, Diego included, will be back soon and not to worry. Though, if he's being honest, Diego's silence has him worried too...

SO, this is probably obvious, but at this point it's OOC for a) Sy to keep going with this bullshit and b) for the teachers to not take extreme measures to make sure no one's out of their cabin after curfew and/or trying to scare their classmates.

Um, I feel bad because there's a lot of LGK events left and it's sort of important that Sy does get caught, for the Halloween dance scare to make any sense (and for him to face any kind of consequences for what he's done so far). But wow, he really does feel like an asshole now, and there is no way he's getting out after curfew again. Meggie and I need to do a serious think about how to handle the rest of this month, and right now we've got our hands full just doing player stuff. So it may be some time before we sort this out, but we will try not to leave you all hanging.

Mr. Calderon-Boot doesn't think she overreacted at all. The teachers should be a ready source of support for the student body! He thanks her, and tells her she did the right thing.

Chris can return to Azurcrest with Levi and Diego, and he'll be asked to stay for the time being. He'll also be told to check in with his house's prefects so they know where he is.

Sooooo don't worry! ... but do worry about the staff getting super serious about curfew from now on.

Quinn passes Laurel while going to and fro for headcount. She gives her a quick hug from behind (the evening's ceremony feels like words just won't cut it) and whispers "Thanks, you did good." before she moves off to the next cabin. She doubles back for a quick addition: "Hockey sticks are under my mattress," then putters away into the night once more.
