CHECKING IN ON AZURCREST

It's not long before Laurel returns to Azurcrest with Mr. Calderon-Boot at her side. He can't stand these pranks, and by the time he arrives he's quite agitated. However, as soon as he reaches the campsite, he takes a deep breath, pats Laurel on the shoulder, and regains his composure.

A few things are going to happen:

• He quickly lights the fire pit in the middle of the campground.


• He's going to go to each cabin individually, and ask the students to come out to the fire pit and sit down. He asks Cecil, Quinn and Jesse to help gather everyone. He also asks that they call in all of the vigilantes that ran off to find the perpetrator.


• The exception will be the junior Azurcrest girls' dorm. He'll try to coerce Katya to come down to Healer Mufferaw's with him, where she will be given a calming draught and can stay the night. He asks Riley to help by gathering her things, and says that Riley may come and stay with her.


• Before going, he gives a quick talk to the gathered Azurcrests, saying Merrill will be on his way. He wants the prefects to do a head count before he arrives.

[OOC: Because of tonight's reaction, we may need to do revisions to this month's plot calendar. The mods are currently discussing what to do, but please be aware. If things do change, we'll compensate anyone whose character is affected because they claimed a Lake Gooseberry Killer slot on the plot calendar. ♥]

Cecil, still trying to get a complete understanding of the situation and still trying (but failing) to restore order to the Azurcrest camp, is there to meet Mr. Calderon-Boot when he arrives. While he's still tense, the presence of the teacher is a relief and he's quick to follow instructions, helping to gather the students that are still there and sending out journal messages* to those that aren't. He'll also answer any questions that Mr. Calderon-Boot might have as well as he can and apologize for letting things get out of control. Though everything escalated so quickly and he doesn't know what he could've done to stop it.

*There will be no actual posts, unless the Mods want there to be?

Laurel is feeling hella sheepish and wondering if she might have overreacted by getting a professor (but knives!). She sits by herself at the fire while everyone else is gathering around, looking paler by the second but trying to pretend that nothing is amiss. :s

UHM YEAH. With still no contact from Diego, an obviously very upset Essie tells Mr. Calderon-Boot that he is missing and was going to look for the killer guy.

Addy wasn't there right away, but hadn't gone far and heard some of the search and figured that Killer Dude had probably gone away anyway by then so she went back and was counted like a good kid. She was notably quiet, mostly because she is ANGRY that someone decided to do this and then run away. She had her hand on her wand most of the nighht like she thought she was scary or something. But she realized quickly how scared everyone seemed and reverted back to smiling and hugging.

LATER ON, AFTER THEIR FRUITLESS PATROL~~

Only as their heading up the hill to Azurcrest does Levi crack open his pocket-journal to check for updates. His heart sinks when he sees all the missed messages from Cecil and he turns this guilty look on the other two. He looks like he accidentally stepped on his sleeping, innocent, PRECIOUS dog's foot and it let out that helpless pained squeak. IT'S BAD.

But it adds some hustle to his step and he jogs up the hill to check in.

Ree had been in the Junior Girl's cabin cuddlepile, but she leaves (reluctantly!) to Prefect at everyone. She tries to be The Comforting Prefect and offers hugs and love to everyone around the fire, especially the lil baby freshmen who have to be SUUUUPER freaked out.

Henrietta was kind of ticked off that no one invited HER to go vigilante-ing, so she prowled around the balconies hoping the "killer" would show up so she could kick his ass.

She didn't want to sit down by the fire and so remained standing, probably looking SUPER INTIMIDATING, which younger students may have found reassuring or not...

IN THE CABINS

Oh yeah no, Katya isn't going anywhere. She's got a death grip on at least Riley. She can be plied a bit with promise of food though.

Casper is still in Katya and Riley's cabin when Mr. Calderon-Boot arrives, having made the trek across campus earlier that evening after receiving a message from her. While he's upset, worry and anger and even fear roiling away just below the surface, he manages to remain calm when he asks Mr. Calderon-Boot if he can go with Katya and Riley.

Ree is in the Junior Girl's cabin, per Riley's ward. She leaves Kat and Riley reluctantly, but she's a prefect and she's trying to do that right, so she goes out to sit with her own cabin and offer snuggles to everyone else.

AFTER MERRILL ARRIVES

By the time Mr. Merrill arrives, Cecil and Jesse and Quinn have managed to complete the headcount. But just barely. Cecil goes to meet the Head of House, looking exhausted but relieved now that he knows everyone is safe, and that's the first thing he tells Mr. Merrill: that every Azurcrest is safe and accounted for. As with Mr. Calderon-Boot, he tells the man that he's sorry this wasn't handled better and that he'll tell him anything he can about tonight's incident.

Mr. Merrill shows up in his star print pajamas and a huge muggle coat, carrying a pop up tent and his sleeping bag. He's arranged it so his tent is right between the two staircases that lead up to the cabins.

ELSEWHERE ON CAMPUS

True to her word, Trixie spends most of the night working on new traps made out of very annoying things including green dye, itching powder and glitter. If anyone tries to mess with her cabin it will be noticeable.

It would feel wrong not to mention what Jesse was doing at the time of the headcount.

Jesse had been deep undercover in Wall Street, working on a piece of investigative journalism that he was sure would become his Senior Project.

SO, this is probably obvious, but at this point it's OOC for a) Sy to keep going with this bullshit and b) for the teachers to not take extreme measures to make sure no one's out of their cabin after curfew and/or trying to scare their classmates.

Um, I feel bad because there's a lot of LGK events left and it's sort of important that Sy does get caught, for the Halloween dance scare to make any sense (and for him to face any kind of consequences for what he's done so far). But wow, he really does feel like an asshole now, and there is no way he's getting out after curfew again. Meggie and I need to do a serious think about how to handle the rest of this month, and right now we've got our hands full just doing player stuff. So it may be some time before we sort this out, but we will try not to leave you all hanging.
