What's Up LARP Club?!

What's Up LARP Club!
Sept 23, The Day Where Almost Nothing Got Done
On September 23rd, LARPers gathered in their usual spot for gaming. Without a crowd of onlookers to impress, club members mostly split off into smaller groups to work on their own scenes. Nisha Lewis made good on her promise to duel Grace Sowerberry over a perceived slight from the week before and, after failing utterly at ro-sham-bo, was soundly trounced. Bianca Dubois continues to find no escape from her bardic freshman admirer, who this week decided the most romantic thing they could do for her was narrate everything she did in rhyming verse.Confused about all the glitter in the open house session last week, [Volunteer A] has mistakenly come under the impression that Gooseberry LARP is now fairies only. They come to the week’s session with a newly rolled fae character. No one corrects them.
Olivia Sanchez and [Volunteer C], finding the session remarkably boring, decide to spice things up by “making sure each scene passes the Bechdel test.” They sit just outside the central action of several different scenes, improvising loud conversations about things like courtly gossip, made up fantasy sports teams and mustard. This goes on throughout the session, culminating in a very serious scene about last week’s murders grinding to a halt because [Volunteer D] cannot stop laughing about the conversation [Volunteer B] and [Volunteer C] are having about [Random Non-Boy-Related Topic of Choice].
Sept 30, Fight Club
King Mr. Elmasry held a gladiatorial tournament today. Players entered to compete for a mysterious magical relic, a sizable pot of gold and an assortment of actual candy, including fizzing whizbees and sugar mice. Despite being the assumed shoe-in for winner, [Volunteer E] was eliminated almost immediately when they tripped and fell. This is why you don’t wear capes. [Volunteer F] agrees to throw their match with [Volunteer G] in exchange for half the candy. Not that it matters, because they both get eliminated early, anyway.Ultimately, [Volunteer H] emerges victorious! The mysterious magical relic appears to be an old shoe. Very strange. As everything begins to wind down, [Volunteer I] loses five points for their house when they make a low hanging fruit dick joke about the jelly slugs [Volunteer H] won from the tournament.
Oct 7, Improvised Pirate Raid Day
Everyone’s still buzzing about the Event Committee’s pirate-themed auction, so it makes sense that today’s LARP session would have some buccaneering. Yancey Montgomery and other students who are members of both EC and LARP don’t have much time to change out of their pirate duds and club’s off to a late start, already, so instead they improvise a pirate raid! Yancey acts as captain of The Filthy Fortune, with [Pirate List] rounding his crew. This was supposed to be the week the Onyx Syndicate attempted to rob King Mr. Elmasry’s treasury, and [Volunteer J]* is initially quite salty about having to reschedule their heist. But the raid proves to be just the right amount of exciting chaos for everyone, as typical scenes are temporarily shelved in favor of a brief session of non-stop pirate fighting. [Pirate Volunteer K] leads the rest of the pirates to battle while singing a sea shanty. Captain Montgomery is slain dramatically by [Volunteer L], who Captain Morgan poses on his corpse.
At the end of the session, Paris Holloway thinks they’ve found another body connected to the ritual murders from two weeks ago! But it turns out to just be Austin McNamara taking a nap under a tree. They have no clue what’s going on. Awkward.
HOW THIS WORKS
- Hey guys, please don't forget to post your character's character outline in the LARP dropbox. It'll help me to build IC/OOCs that are more adapted to the characters. At minimum I'd like to know your character's name, race/class and which major faction they belong to.
- If you want your character to join LARP club, please dropbox the mods to let them know so that they can update the club roster!
- As a refresher for in-game terms, a Green Card is an optional plot hook, ICly. An Orange Card is a mandatory plot hook that must be followed, ICly. There are two "factions" intended to keep conflict rolling in game, the Court of Logan is the faction for goody two-shoes and the Onyx Syndicate is for all the edgelords. More info in the LARP dropbox.
- Please post HERE to grab a volunteer slot! Each Character can grab one slot for the first two hours, afterward, you may grab another for each character.
- [Volunteer J] should be a member of the Onyx Syndicate.
- This is super duper low pressure. If you want to thread out your scenes, please do! If not, meh!
- If you DO thread and you do COOL STUFF that AFFECTS the plot OR if you dropbox/email me to be like "HEY my character wants to DO THIS or INVESTIGATE THIS or SUCH AND SUCH"...IT WILL CHANGE HOW THE PLOT WILL UNFOLD!! YOU CAN CLIMB THAT MOUNTAIN. Just call me Todd Howard.
» FOR SCENING: If u wanna scene go rite ahead.
» CLAIM A SPOT: Please post your volunteer slot claims here to keep things neat. Thank you. I love you.
» OOC - Questions, comments, concerns!
