Event Committee will be holding a joint event in the atrium tomorrow evening to formally kick off the Halloween season with an unveiling of the Crafting Club's secret project as well as continuing the beloved tradition of pumpkin carving. This year, the pumpkin carving competition will be shifting to a group event, with teams divided by house and year. Students are encouraged to plan ahead and the winning entry will be displayed in the atrium in a place of honor throughout the rest of the month.

And speaking of the dance, a quick thank you to everyone who participated in the recent date auction. We managed to exceed expectations and I hope everyone enjoys what we have planned for you this year. VIP package arrangements have largely been finalized but [...] feel free to forward any ~~ridiculous demands~~ requests and they'll be taken under advisement.

Vee, can you organize refreshments for tomorrow's event? I seem to recall Mr. Hightower served cider and some sort of pumpkin muffins last year if you just want to repeat that. Everyone else, please be prepared to spend time decorating the atrium after classes tomorrow.

Tonight's meeting kicks off the official start to Halloween Dance planning season. Following Mina's example from last year, I've posted a suggestion box outside the meeting room for anyone who would feel more comfortable expressing themselves anonymously. While its use is intended for Event Committee members only, I fully expect to read through multiple suggestions about aliens.

[...] It's entirely possible that I'm abusing my party planning powers to force all of you into an extra bonding activity this month. We've got a couple brilliant artists in our group and hopefully the rest of us are at least skilled at shoveling out pumpkin guts. I'm looking forward to spending the evening with all of you, but it would go more smoothly if we had a game plan in place. Perhaps an homage to Kurt's impressive muddy showdown last year? (I'm kidding, mostly.)

Is it too much to draw up blueprints and make a practice pumpkin?

Well there's technically nothing in the rules against practicing.

All I ever ask is that we stay just barely on this side of the law.

If we want to approach this like professionals, that's pretty much the only way.

If you insist on approaching this like professionals, I guess I could be convinced.

I know how much you hate such tedious tasks and I appreciate your sacrifice.

I bet I could make a chart for this.

I wonder if we could incorporate a flow chart into the overall pumpkin design?

I mean, really, considering the size constraints we're dealing with and level of detail we'll need to do this battle justice, it would be irresponsible not to.

Can we spread the gruesome scene across several pumpkins?

The true bonding experience was all of our cabin silently but unanimously agreeing to give only 50%... I've never felt more in tune with them.

It's what we do best!! Our biggest rival in plan 'n' prep will be Ebonhide, but we're more artistic. Unless they find a way to charm their pumpkin to play instruments, we're a shoo-in for the winner.

... I say very modestly and with a gentle tone, as is the Ribbonfin way.

The major plan 'n' preppers graduated last year and I doubt even Vee has enough stores of glitter to make up for the boys' combined efforts to glower a finished pumpkin into existence.

That's true... three out of five will grumble about the pointlessness of the activity and if Ulysses handles a carving knife like he handles craft scissors... The Big Bears are probably more of a threat to themselves than they are to us.
