FISHY FIRE FRIGHT FEST II: THE REFRIGHTENING

Happy Halloween! Did your costume not get enough attention at the dance? Do you just really love s'mores and not sleeping? Or have you stockpiled enough Creepypastas to last you a lifetime and you need to get them out? Come frighten your friends! Hoping (in vain, possibly) that a little Ribbonfun will keep the more ghost-friendly students from trying to spend Halloween partying with dead kids, Rosy has organized a night of spooks, s'mores, and safety in Ribbonfin. Don't be shy about sharing your creepiest campfire tales tonight, sounds like there's a prize fit for a junior available for the spookiest story.

[Character X], looking to cash in on some of that famous floppy fish passivity, brings along a little bottle of booze to pour into their hot chocolate, but every time they go to partake they can feel Rosy's eyes on them. Uh... maybe some other time.

As the night winds down, there's an unexpected visitor: the ghost of a beautiful girl impaled by a branch appears at the edge of the campsite. She announces herself by saying "Boo!" When Madison Ives breaks the silence and screams, the ghost laughs and snuffs out the campfire and all other lights around the campsite, plunging everyone into darkness. Luckily, staff quickly gets the lights working again before bedtime.

RULES & REGULATIONS

• This is being held in Ribbonfin, but it's open to everyone! Have you ever known a Ribbonfin to turn away a friend?


• There's hot chocolate and all the appropriate s'mores fixin's your heart could dream of available. There are even vegan marshmallows. There are also some really weird options that the house elves remembered a certain culinarily creative Ribbonfin requesting last year. Go nuts. Just don't give yourself a stomachache.


• Anyone with contraband will be kicked to the curb without hesitation. Do not fuck around in Fishtown.


• Extra seats, blankets, even some pillows are available for attendees to use, because Ribbonfin cares about your comfort, and some people forget how cold it can get in these mountains in the fall.


• You can be brief or you can be long-winded or you can just leave a link if you feel like telling a spooky story. Just join in and have fun!


• The winner of the Spookiest Story will largely be decided via RNG, but I will take character reactions into account, too! You have until 11:59:59 PM PST on November 1^st to get your stories in so you can win a bucket of sugar.

Rosy (Open)

Rosy is very organized when it comes to setting up. Graham crackers go here, a neat stack of roasting sticks to there, blankets and seating and appropriate decorations all go in their approved spots. This is not an event likely to descend into chaos, but it's even less likely to go awry if Rosy has a very tight grip on everything here.

Though she is absolutely certain everything she can get everything done herself, Rosy lives to boss people around, and floppy fishies are very good at being bossed around. Those who seem like they're just lingering until the marshmallow bag opens for business end up with a task, and anyone dawdling on their task gets a harder one out of spite. Rosy is your passive-aggressive mom friend tonight.

But don't let that scare you away from helping. Just... be better at helping.

Eve and open

Eve didn't come here to help set up. She was coming back from the artificing shed to grab some supplies from her cabin because her Frankenstein monster of a mechanical spider needed more screws. And now suddenly she was holding bags of marshmallows and straightening them on a table. She's not entirely sure how this happened but there was a girl over here telling people what to do and Eve just didn't slip away fast enough.

She's never been to an American bonfire though, so she's not really complaining.

Avery (And Open!)

Never one to pass up on a night of Fishy Friends & Fun, Avery puts on her Halloween costume once more and heads outside to help set up. She is a Very Good Grade A Listener and she helps Rosy do whatever it is that needs to be done.

She's over at the bonfire, stacking the wood and getting it ready to be lit and all that, a myriad of pillows, blankets, and extra chairs around her but not set up.

Jeffy Tells a Goat Story

Jeffy tells a shorter and yet somehow more scattered version of the Goatman story. Jeffy's no master of storytelling, and he tells more of a PG version, shying away from sounding too aggressive or scary (yes, even though it's supposed to be scary). He keeps to the central theme, though: what if there's someone in your group who is Not Supposed to Be There? The Goatman might be right here! The Goatman MIGHT BE YOU.

He says, pointing to just a random person around the fire. Hopefully you're not Goatman!!

Grace Recites a Poem

Grace is not a good public speaker but she is trying to work through her shyness and pushing herself to do this in front of her fishie peers seems...important. Even though it's not. She spends about ten minutes working up the nerve before she raises her hand (you're not in class, Grace) and says she has a story! Sort of. She clears her throat and recites Dead Man's Hate, a poem by Robert Ervin Howard.

Somewhere between a story and a song, she seems to have an easier time with this than she does with talking in class or reading lines on stage and her soft, precise voice actually lends something spooky to the performance. When she's done, looks like she wants to run away, but scoots a bit closer Rupert or Iggy or whoever she's sitting with instead.

Riley's Kitchen

Riley stares at the spread of what's supposed to be s'mores ingredients, her nose wrinkling at the sight.

"Who the fuck puts hot sauce on chocolate??" She pushes the disgusting bottle aside, saving her precious sugary sweets from being tainted by that thing, and grabs the Gummi bears and poptarts instead. This is how you make a s'more, folks.

That's a Lot of Hot Chocolate

Nia thought she was being nice when she agreed to grab a freshman a mug of hot chocolate, but then the little goober ran off to do whatever the hell it is this year's freshmen do. Write long, meandering screeds about things and change their name to Lazer, probably. Oh well, whatever. See if Nia does anything nice again, ever.

She sits down in front of the fire, a mug of hot chocolate in each hand and wishes she had some Kahlua.

Madison & Tristan & Open

Madison's Tuesdays are (like the rest of her life, to be fair) completely over-scheduled. By the time she trudges over to the Ribbonfin campfire, wrapped in a pink blanket and sporting what she will adamantly deny are slippers, it's been going for at least an hour.

She doesn't mind, really. It's nice to sort of slip in and be present without having to say hi and smile at everyone for once. (She smiles a lot, it's like, part of her whole thing.)

Still, Madison does give Tristan -- the person she plopped down closest to -- a little wave. "What'd I miss?"

Cole + Open

Cole has never been good with words and he doesn't have much skill when it comes to telling stories but that doesn't mean he doesn't like to listen. He sits around the fire with the others, drawing by the flickering light and letting the wild tales guide his hand. There's definitely a Goatman in there. He got some hot chocolate a while ago...but it's probably been sitting neglected long enough to be cool. Maybe even cold.

Avery Keeps the Fire Going + Open

There's nothing Avery loves more than sitting around the fire. Even when there wasn't a party or some other kind of event going on, she often takes to sitting out by the fire by herself and reading, or just thinking. Tonight is no different. She's got herself planted besides the fire with hot chocolate, a couple s'mores and her journal, and... half a bag of marshmallows. (Don't worry Rosy, she brought these herself)

Some of the marshmallows are being thrown unceremoniously into the fire, watching as they ignite. They burn for a very long time and actually work pretty decently as kindling. Of course, this fire is already well lit. Still, as she stares into the fire with her mind clearly full of thoughts, her eyes not really focused on anything, she tosses another one in rather absentmindedly.

Picture this, if you will: a girlish scream whilst launching into a defensive stance like she's about to drop-kick Martha into the stratosphere, then sinking back into her seat and thanking God everything went dark so no one can see her embarrassed tears. :)

This is not Calvin's first brush with the paranormal, but you wouldn't know it from the way he jumps. He shouts and seizes the arm of the nearest person, torn between shielding them, or shielding himself.

Riley Sees a Hot Ghost

To literally no one's surprise, the first thing Riley notices is that there's a hot girl standing in the middle of the campsite. Clearly, Riley needs to make it over to Ribbonfin more often if this is what they're bringing to the table.

It takes one click of the cog too long for her to realize that there's something fucked up with her face and it's not just a costume, and when Madison screams? Riley jumps and lets out a small shriek of her own, grabbing onto Casey's arm so hard her fake nails leave gouges in his arm. She's only kind of sorry to destroy your beautiful skin, boo.
