Maybe. It's an intermediate state by definition, but that doesn't mean you couldn't perceive it as lasting far longer than it truly does. The experience of time can be subjective, right?

The experience, yes. But for it to be, as you say, an intermediate state, our perception of it must end at some point. If it were ongoing, it would not be liminal, and we could not have this discussion.

I think a span or space of time could be metaphysically "liminal" -- that is, having a defined start and end if looking at a timeline from some sort of hypothetical objective standpoint -- but I don't think humans have access to that level of objective reality or "truth," so our understanding or reference to something "liminal" can only really be speculative, or framed by whatever ontological context surrounds the conversation. So we can totally have this discussion. Maybe. Or not. I'm rambling because I don't want to start my potions essay.

Either way, I kind of wish we weren't Gooseberry yet. You're probably happy to get back to things, though, aren't you?
