The revelation of Jaime's feelings doesn't seem right but, like Ennis, Lachlan isn't going to question it. Not when he's still in the midst of shock and not when Jaime's abrupt departure and obvious discomfort seemed to confirm it. Why else would he have left like that? Out of nowhere? He turns to look in the direction that Jaime had gone again before he pushes his hand back through his blonde curls and returns his attention to Ennis.

The question makes him flinch, though, and he goes quiet for a long moment. There's no denying that Jaime is important to him. But. "No," he says quietly, "I dinnae fancy him."
