CANDYGRAMS

Giving minor consideration to everyone's nutrition, Event Committee waits until lunch time to deliver the much-awaited candygrams. It's madness. There's so much sugar around you. Are you getting a toothache just looking at it?

HOW THIS WORKS

• If you skip lunch, the candy will be left by your locker.


• The cards were charmed to make everyone's handwriting indistinguishable, but anything else goes.


• Ursula's not telling you a thing about who sent what. Do your detectiving elsewhere.


• For groups, each member received the indicated amount of candy.


• All of the candy is delivered in its original wrappings. No plagues this time, kids.


• If I made a mistake, comment in the OOC section, or if it needs to be anonymous, reply to Ursula's screened post. I tried very hard to preserve everyone's formatting.


• Using Marin's fancy new cut code to put all of these on one page! Look for yours below!

There are almost 80 roses sitting in front of her. This doesn't even account for the rest of the candy. What the fuck. She does not have enough room in her bag for all of these, she's sure as fuck not going to eat them all, and, once she starts to go through the notes, she's not sure she wants to even try. Who the fuck sends 53 roses. Even as a joke, who the fuck sends someone 53 chocolate roses? She can't even in good conscience leave these sitting around in case Freddy decides this is his dinner for the rest of the week.

And when she gets to the dozen roses, her stomach twists, her jaw tightens. She drops the notes, tries to shove the obscene pile of sugar out of the way and almost spills her drink. This is chaos.

"I can't even throw these away," she says to no one in particular. "We'll have sick raccoons for weeks."

Sofia + Open

Having been to preoccupied with studying for exams, Sofia completely forgot about candygrams or sending any out. She stares suspiciously at the ones she's received, wracking her brain to figure out who'd send her ones anonymously. Ramon seemed like a possibility, but she had no admirers who'd really feel the need to be secretive.

Okay, it does falter for a second when he gets the candy bags out of order and thinks someone is possibly really mad at him because they like Essie a lot, and then there's someone who wanted to ask him to the dance?? Oh no!! And okay once he gets the candy bags in order (he thinks???) he feels like a LITTLE bad that he only got Essie ONE bag of candy, but then there's this DOZEN here that he's apparently supposed to give to her and who is he to defy an order from GOD??

"Are we gonna have a shootout at the, uh," he pauses for a second, sorting through all the best puns he can think of, "Oh-Cane Corral??"

So busy being tickled at the sheer number of roses that Rosy got (and teasing her), Gwen was a bit slow in reading hers. The pun made her laugh out loud and she showed it to anyone close by. "I would say Ursula," she mentioned, "but I think she'd sign that one." The others also made her smile, but when she got to Webster's, she looked surprised and then turned red as a beet.

Calvin & OPEN

Calvin's face goes a little pink when he realizes he's received more than one candygram. But that's not the end of it, oh no. Not by a long shot. By the time his considerable pile is finished being built, his face is red and blotchy. He's not certain how he's going to get this all back to his cabin.

Having severely underestimated how much and who would send him things, guilt over not doing the same for others hangs over him. Only Calvin could receive this much candy from people who genuinely care for him, and find a way to be negative about it. A couple of the actual messages are troubling, though. Or at least surprising. He does his best to not accidentally look at Todd.

Ebonhide Senior Boys

Twelve candy reindeer. Eight chocolate roses. Five bags of candy. Four candy sleighs. And almost all of it from anonymous classmates and shit-stirrers that think they're exceptionally funny. Casper's already pushed the mess off to the side and resumed eating his lunch while he flips through the notes again. Cards with writing about secret admirers and his own inner sweetness and all that bullshit.

Though, none are quite as much bullshit as the one from 'Cameron'. Seeing it again, he utters an irritated hmph and puts it down on the table before sliding it over to the actual Cameron Carney. "I'm afraid I'll have to say 'no'," he adds dryly, then shakes his head, "I hope no one is actually falling for this." If he considered it even remotely possible that this was real, he wouldn't call the other boy out. But he doesn't and it's not and he's not concerned. Just annoyed.

Ariadne

Ari wasn't expecting to get this much candy. It seems excessive. She's pretty sure she doesn't even have this many friends. But it's mostly well-received, except the note about using tongue, which she crumples up and throws away immediately. After disposing of the offending note, she sorts the rest of her candy into neat piles. She pockets the other notes to be examined later. For now she seems the most intrigued by the dozen roses that came without a note.

Jaime & Ennis & Lachlan

Ennis is more than satisfied with his cache of candy. No roses, but he considers it a blessing to not have to worry if he was the target of a prank. Nice, simple, genuine candygrams from his friends, clubs, and Fish Family.

He steals a glance at Jaime's assortment, only surprised that there aren't more roses in the pile. That's only four from other people. And... Well... good. He can live with that.

"What a heartthrob," he comments playfully, trying not to let his gaze linger too long on the dozen and looking over to Lachlan's stash instead. "Ohh! Two single roses?"

Ursula

It isn't until the last of the candy has been delivered that Ursula takes a moment to sit herself. It's been a long week, between exams and dance planning and filling candy orders and there's a hint of weariness under her smile, but it's hard not to feel the contagious energy as everyone in the cafeteria eyes each other's deliveries.

She's a little surprised by how much candy has wound up in front of her, now tidily organized into piles. The reindeer earn a small grimace. They're adorable, yes, but quite easily the worst idea she's ever had. Still, each note puts a smile on her face, even though she's read most of them already. Well, almost all of them. The one signed from Casey gets a classic Ursula de Luca eyeroll.

She may not ace all her exams this week, but the long hours were worth it.

Todd

Todd spends at least 5 minutes wracking his brain for who he knows whose name starts with an M, and eventually comes to the conclusion this is a fraudulent note someone sent in the guise of Molly. "Very original," he announces loudly to the cafeteria with no further context. Super duper funny. He's not in a bad mood at all.

Nisha

There's about two dozen candy cane reindeer in a pile in front of Nisha, with three separated from the rest. She's got four candy canes in her mouth already, and she's in the process of carefully unwrapping a fifth. Hell yeah she's going to fit all of these in her mouth at once!! AND she's not just doing it to do it THIS TIME!!

Is there a more gruesome fate than watching your friends and family be eaten before you, yourself, are eaten? Nisha isn't sure, but she's pretty sure this is a fitting punishment for Mortimer, Marzipan and Ron's crimes. Especially Ron. Ron looks like he's done some shit.

Phoebe

Though not entirely sure what to make of the 'you make me feel all creepy crawly' note, Phi is otherwise pleasantly surprised by the lack of anything overly uncomfortable in the candygrams she receives. Though she is just generally embarrassed to be getting any at all... it feels kind of nice, and she's definitely smiling a tiny bit, even if her cheeks are somewhat flushed.

Archie

Archie has sorted all his notes alphabetically by their source, which leaves the anonymous ones on top. Convenient, since it's one of those that he's currently consumed by. Someone loves him? Someone is watching him, possibly right at this moment? He doesn't look up, because he'd loathe to be so obviously wide-eyed and flustered. Or should he be more concerned about the enigmatic "HI." with its odd simplicity?

Everything is nice, though. He's read each short note several times, and already plans on keeping them for posterity's sake. Archimedes strongly believes in the value of keepsakes and memories. He saves all his correspondences and gifts, even if they're scant. The sweets are perishable, however, and will need to be consumed. By the end of lunch, he has a bouquet of candy canes, a stack of chocolates, and a bouquet of edible roses. Despite Tally's suggestion, what he can't finish before he leaves will have to remain here in Hieronymus' care.

Nia

The only sign that the note from "Sylla" has any affect on her is that Nia starts to shove potato chips into her mouth at an accelerated rate. She spares one glance at Sylla before deciding that this has to be fake. Sylla wouldn't leave. Sylla saved her. She wouldn't give up now. ...But, maybe, she'll ask her, anyway. Just to be sure.

She's careful when she folds that card shut, and takes time to tuck it into the front of a notebook. One deep breath later, she's regarding her candy hoard with the grin of a person who is very nearly a candy Scrooge McDuck.

"A fine tribute," she says, a dragon satisfied.

Hazel

Hazel's never going to say no to candy, so it's with pleasure that she receives all that is delivered to her. She immediately tucks in, because even though she has actual lunch to eat, it's hard to resist the siren call of sugar. Though not sure what to make of the staple heart, she's not going to complain either.

Considering how long he's not been at Gooseberry, he's pleasantly surprised by the modest pile of chocolate awaiting him.
