Please be careful. I was meant to walk Gwen from the library and I ended up walking with her doppelganger instead because I was stupid and careless and didn't check her identity through the journals after I met up with "her".

Somehow she ended up falling asleep in the library and was overlooked when Ms. Petrichor was locking up? I just don't see how that would happen naturally if she was waiting for me? At the very least, wouldn't she have had someone else walk her back if she thought I forgot about her? And she said she wasn't even in a hidden corner of the library. I understand how Rosy was overlooked that one time since she was tired from studying for exams all day and was hard to spot, but Gwen's case is too weird.

Her doppelganger knew I was meeting with her to walk her back and Gwen just happens to fall asleep during that time? Just happens to be overlooked when Ms. Petrichor knows there's a curfew in place and knows she's accidentally locked someone in before? I think those beings can do more than just take on the appearance of another.

And I've just been [...] really paranoid that the people I'm talking to aren't really the people I'm talking to.

[......] That is strange. It could just be a coincidence, though. Gwen's seemed stressed lately and even Ms. Petrichor makes mistakes. Probably. [...] It feels sort of flimsy writing it out, though.

But I'll bring my phone and set an alarm. Just in case. If you don't see me at dinner, maybe you could pop your head in?

Even if Gwen really did fall asleep, Ms. Petrichor seems so detail-oriented that it's difficult to believe she'd make the same mistake twice in such a short amount of time. This is the woman who sends out notices the moment a book is overdue. She's not careless. I think this thing wanted Gwen out of its way while it took her place and it made sure Petrichor wouldn't find her.

And I can't figure out why it wanted me to walk it all the way to Ribbonfin? This isn't my first experience with them but this is the first time I've interacted face-to-face with one that I know of. If it wanted to hurt me, it could have done it while we were on the trails together but all it did was act chatty and ask me about my day and stuff like that. I really thought it was Gwen.

I'll keep an eye out for you. I don't want to cause unnecessary stress, but I want you to be safe. What happened was kind of kept hush-hush between the Senior Ribbonfins and the Prefects. I guess they don't want to cause panic or give anyone more reason to go out looking for these things.

Nia said they want to make us doubt ourselves and our friends, didn't she? If that's what they want, this makes sense. Even if it's not your fault, it makes you question your judgment. [...] Not that I understand why a creature would want to do something like that. [...] I hope the MACUSA can figure this out soon. We can't be the first wizards to encounter something like this, can we?

[...] Is it going to be safe all right to have our families here next week? I got a letter from my mum. She actually wants to come this year. She wants to bring Tadg and Maisie with her. But with everything that's been going on I'm not sure. They're not accustomed to dealing with magical creatures, let alone [...] whatever these are. And they don't have journals or anything to help them identify people.
