Saturday, the temperature outside isn’t awful, the sun is sort of out, and it’s generally OK conditions for some Quidditch. Having decided to cut down their bonding activities, Avery is… sadly missing coming up with different ways to get her team to bond. In lieu of such an outlet, the grand idea to hold a school-wide pick-up game with the cheerleaders as players and players as cheerleaders came to fruition! Additionally, thanks to [Volunteers Lilika Ignacz, Gwenneth Popplestone, Ennis Harper, and D] post-game there'll be hot chocolate, s'mores, and other various snacks! The event starts off with the teams changing into something more coordinated and the cheer squads coming out.
The Mascots are the first to hit the field, wearing some truly… colorful and creative outfits. Dinah “Danger” Dixon makes good on her promise of a tunic with many eyes pasted on and a super ready utility belt for Knife Ready, while Nisha Lewis has on --- something that could loosely represent Hostile Paper?
It looks like the squads have definitely been practicing their moves, and everything starts out really well! Some nice tricks, some great dance moves but as promising as it started and as amazing it could have been, it goes just as horribly wrong. Before long, Webb is out with a dislocated shoulder and Meer’s out with a torn ACL in a single almost-nailed-but-not-quite-nailed move. Despite his injury, Webb remains close with his Cheer Squad and encourages them from the almost-sidelines.
Mascots Dixon and Lewis start a dance-off, ending up in a brief wrestling match between the two. The awkward costumes and the dance on afterwards results in giving Dixon a split lip and a missing tooth, while Lewis lands herself a sprained wrist. Shortly after the Mascot Dance Battle of 2015 and the routines get more complicated, it turns into brief yet complete chaos. Key and Barringer fall victim to actual injuries and need to sit down - Key with a bruised rib and Barringer a shattered heel.
But they bring it back to finish with impressive style, right as the teams get ready to play. Referee Casper Kim walks out onto the field, and asks Captains Prince and Skynner to shake hands. Gearing up behind the scenes and commentating is Miguel de la Guardia, looking both excited and like he is really, really bored. Skynner walks up with some bravado, but looks just a little less sure of himself when he sees Mackenzie Prince. Prince gives him a very firm hand-shake with a look on her face that suggests she actually could eat him alive if she wanted to. Miguel chimes in - “And here is what I guess is a customary show of sportsmanship between team captains--Todd Skynner looks ready to die and Prince looks ready to let him. Early signs of a mercy killing before Marie Patterson gets to him.” Referee Kim blows the whistle, and looking... surprisingly impressive, the teams take off!
The game starts off fast - Chasers Prince, Knight, and Finnigan-Thomas are all competitive, sure of themselves, and here to have fun and waste no time getting to it! It feels like they've only been in the air for a few seconds when Finnigan-Thomas scores the first goal against Keeper Skynner. “That’s good, right? Oh, seriously? OH. NICE--Gooseberry’s Best-Looking Guy scores the first goal for Knife Ready--Skynner looks like he’s seriously reconsidering his life choices up to this point.” Beaters Sanchez, Ives, Papadakis, and Oberholtzer are all evenly matched so far, launching bludgers at the chasers and each other in a most dangerous sort of fashion. The first victim to fall prey to a bludger is Papadakis, the bludger just barely glancing off her knee. Not quite where Sanchez was hoping to go with that one, but ouch, that's definitely going to leave a bruise! The brief chaos allows Chaser-there's-a-reason-you're-a-reserve-Zabinsky to score Hostile Paper's first goal. 10-10!
The game is injury free for a while, but boy are the points starting to rack up! Out of nowhere, Chasers Prince, Knight, and Finnigan-Thomas start relentlessly barraging Skynner with shots, scoring five goals in rapid succession. “Prince, Knight, and my fa--ahem, Finnigan-Thomas each scoring a goal apiece--Skynner’s starting to look like he’s realizing the game has started. That speaks badly of how often people must throw things at him on a daily basis. We still love you in Coppertale, bro!” Patterson, Keating, and Zabinsky are hot on their tails and with a well aimed bludger by Oberholtzer which completely breaks up Knife Ready's formation, Keating scoring three goals before the other team can get back in their groove with some truly beautiful passing by Patterson and Zabinsky to Keating. The score's 60 - 40 Knife Ready.
Chaser Finnigan-Thomas is the first to get back on track, grabbing the Quaffle and heading straight for Skynner - but gets over excited and forgets to let go and goes straight through the hoop with the Quaffle, leaving Skynner laughing. Referee Kim doesn't hesitate in blowing the whistle, looking -is that amused? Oh, no, just a shadow. "Haversacking!" He shouts, pointing at Finnigan-Thomas. "Patterson with the shot!" Knox seems ready for him, but Patterson still manages to sink one past him. 60-50!
And then... everything goes downhill. Beater Sanchez aims a bludger at Seeker L. Holloway who thought she spotted the Snitch. It connects, but it wasn't hit as hard as it could have been and L. Holloway sustains only a very sore bloody nose! In an attempt to save their Seeker, both Papadakis and Oberholtzer head to retrieve the bludger but chaser Knight swerves in between them - Papadakis elbows her in the eye, definitely on accident, and both girls lose control of their brooms. Papadakis knocks into Oberholtzer who nearly falls off their broom - reaching to try and stabilize herself on her broom, but she catches Sanchez’s foot instead, nearly falling off. Ruby feels something tear in her shoulder and barely has time to settle herself back on her broom before she needs to exit the game - uh oh, something is clearly wrong. “And here we observe a pride of Serengeti hyenas, fighting to establish dominance--don’t give me that look, Papadakis. Sanchez seems to have established herself as the alpha. Man, I could actually get to like this game. Oberholtzer tagging out.” There are no reserves so it's all on you, Papadakis! Sanchez feels something pull in her ankle, but it goes unnoticed while flying.
Referee Kim sees about a dozen fouls at this point, and blows his whistle to call "Blagging! Blatching! Blocking! Cobbing!" He points at each player guilty of a foul. There's audible groans from players, cheerleaders, and the crowd but hey - a foul’s a foul! Knight and Finnigan-Thomas both sink their shots against Skynner, and Keating gets one past Knox but he’s ready for Patterson's second foul-shot and blocks it. The score stands at 80-60.
The game is heating up now - Papadakis has to try and do the job of two Beaters and sends a bludger straight at Beater Ives trying to take her out - and she does! The bludger connects with Ives' hand and breaks two of her fingers. Unable to hold onto her broom and the bat without falling, she practically throws the bat away so she can fly down to get that checked out, resulting in her departure from the game. Meanwhile on the ground, Referee Kim has taken his wand out to stop the bat from flying into the crowd. “Que carajo--a quick save from Kim has kept--who is that? Oh--Balthazar Doyle from grievous facial injury and resulting surgical improvement. Ouch. Ives tagging out.” The teams once again evened up, it's seemed like no one has noticed what's happening with the scoring after the whole Beater and bat debacle, but it looks like Hostile Paper's ultra flexible and very attractive Chasers Keating & Patterson score a goal apiece to tie the game 80-80!
Nose still bleeding freely, neither L. or P. Holloway seem to have any idea where the Snitch is. Come on, this game is going downhill fast! They race around trying to find it and looking like they are really just trying to outdo each other “And it’s Holloway and Holloway, Holloway versus Holloway, Holloway dodging Holloway, Holloway blocking a flight path redirection by Holloway--are they fighting? I think they forgot about the Snitch. Can someone bring me a snack or whatever, this is going to take a hot minute. Ten dragots on Paris!” and so are the teams in general - there's so many attempts at scoring that it’s hard to keep track if more are being blocked or let in but it looks like Knox and Skynner are both doing a decent job of keeping at least some out. Skynner's strategy of trying to body block with sheer force of will and mass aren't working out quite as well as one might hope, and the tides turn heavily in Knife Ready's favor - four more scores and they're up 120-80.
In an attempt to rally their team, Hostile Paper's cheerleaders have set up a special trick instead of attempting to do any more gymnastics after sustaining heavy injuries earlier. As promised, it's Wilde and his skateboard, a small ramp and a FIERY HOOP! To absolutely no one's surprise, he does a daring jump through the hoop and seems to make it through unscathed! Except, wait, is that the arm of his jacket on fire??! Before anyone is sure of what they saw, the fire's out and Wilde plays it off like nothing happened. Very smooth, and it did exactly what he intended - the crowd goes absolutely wild with cheers!
Both teams are getting into a groove now, but Knife Ready just seems to be, well, ready! While Keating manages another goal to take the score 120-90, Knight and Finnigan-Thomas are on a roll, and up the ante by scoring twice more totaling the scores to 140-90. Finally, just after the Knife Ready's 14th goal, Seeker L. Holloway spots the Snitch! Her nose may not still be bleeding but it's decently painful and she doesn't get the jump the way she wants to - P. Holloway is hot on her tail already and the two are neck and neck, the expressions on their faces so intense you might actually die from their withering stares! The Snitch is there, even Miguel is screaming about it at this point and both Holloway's in true twin fashion are identical in speed and positioning - both with their arms outstretched at the same time and --

Players & Cheerleaders
IF YOU WANT some special Miguel commentary, you can also reply here with "request: commentary" !!
Dia - and some sweet Miguel commentary??
When Paris gets the Snitch and her team wins, she's whooping loudly at Paris, flying down and nearly knocking Miguel over with her broom definitely also an accident. She gives Paris a crushing hug before doing the same with the rest of her teammates.
Request: Commentary
London
Captain Prince
In the wake of the injuries, Kenzie comes to a clear conclusion: "We're all terrible at one another's jobs, and this was a disaster." She doesn't seem too put out about it, though, and casually ushers her wounded soldiers off to see Mufferaw as needed.
Hazel
At the end though, she's noooot really sure how all those cheerleaders hurt themselves so badly?? But they'll be fiiiine?
Keeper Webster
When Paris catches the snitch, Webster pumps his fist, does a loop in the air on his broom, and lands gently back on the ground and celebrates with his teammates. He's happy they won... and even happier that he didn't get injured.
Spectators
Lilika & Open
Miguel's glowing commentary of Noel certainly isn't lifting her spirits—they sure got cozy quick— but she keeps her face placidly smooth, even when Noel makes a dope of himself by careening through the goal posts because he can't keep his eyes off the pint-sized commentator. The only obvious sign that she is displeased with him is her silence, especially compared to the raucous cheers she showers on the rest of her friends. Whenever Kenzie scores a goal, she jumps to her feet and waves her Azurcrest pom-poms and every time Webster blocks a goal Lilika shouts a few choice insults at the would-be scorer.
Her most dramatic reaction comes when London is nearly decapitated by a bludger. "Her beautiful face!!! FOUL! FOUL! CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY!!!"

Fun fact:
To RNG injuries, I took the list of players and cheerleaders and randomized their order and used a yes/no generator to RNG if they were injured. then from there, used the yes/no generator to RNG if it was major or minor (for those that didn't specify minor only). and then took a list of common sports injuries RNG'd who got what
i added burns to the list for cheer only purely bc of Wilde and i shit you not Wilde got it and i just about fucking died right then and there.
