February in gaming club

February 6th

• A bored Lachlan Galbraith starts building a house of cards, which soon turns into an elaborate, sprawling card castle, attracting the attention of several other members. Everything ends in tragedy, however, as Pandora Lacey enthusiastically high fives and/or chestbumps Lachlan and sends the card castle crashing down.


• [Character E] likes all this flour talk and charms Connect Four to shoot flour when someone successfully connects four. At least we know Ferdie Ayers isn't a mimic, they're just really good at this game.

February 13th

• It's time for a Jenga Tournament! Post your form here to find out how you stacked up in competitive stacking, and the winner will be announced on the 14th.

February 20th

• Is it actually possible to hustle people at Go Fish? It is if you're Quentin Youngblood, who walks away with a bag full of mini marshmallows they were definitely not using to gamble because that's illegal.

February 27th

• With no one available to spin, Liberty Chan decides to charm the Twister spinner to call out the moves for them. They did not count on it also heckling them. Why are all the games in Gaming Club so rude? Maybe the president should have a chat with them.

JENGA TOURNAMENT

• Aside from the final outcome, the details of the games are up to you!


• The tournament is happening on February 13th, and I will roll anything posted before 11:59 PM PST, February 13th. You can fill out your form nice and early, or wait until the day of to get it in!


• The prize is a plastic construction hat, bubble gum measuring tape, and some construction-themed Valentines!

MINUTIAE

• Gaming Club meets every Tuesday in the Atrium at 7:00 PM.


• The Gaming Club members list is here, though Austin will never take attendance and never kick out drop-ins. Only members can participate in tournaments, though.


• This is very low-key, unstructured and optional calendar that will be posted on the first Tuesday of the month. If you want to scene anything, whether it's one of the events referenced above or just a chill Tuesday night in the lodge, feel free to do it here. There will be a link to each one in Austin's journal if you want to come here for reference or for a random scene in the middle of the month.

Strategy: For a Ribbonfin, she has abysmally low patience in Jenga. She probably takes about 30 seconds to pick the next block.
Motivation: I think Gwen tends to forget about prizes in the heat of the game

Lachlan

Name: Lachlan Galbraith
Strategy: Lachlan is a planner and overanalyzes every move he makes. Just go, Lachlan.
Motivation: He's not especially motivated to win. But he is motivated by Anxiety about knocking the tower. Someone remind him this is a game.
Anything else? Why is he still allowed in this club?

Lucas???

Name: Lucas Kowalski
Strategy: Jenga stresses Lucas out. He starts out meticulously, carefully plotting each move. But as the game ramps up, he can't take the intensity of it and cracks and by the end is Accio-ing bricks out and hoping for the best.
Motivation: I mean it seems like it'll be useful for freeform LARPing.
Anything else? Watching other people play Jenga gives him heart palpitations.

Strategy: AGENT. OF. CHAOS!
Motivation: Oscar wants it pretty tbh.

Strategy: She carefully plots each piece because it scares her a little when it falls ok who does not get anxiety playing this game!?
Motivation: She's just having fun, she doesn't care about what place she gets!

Panda

Name: Pan, god of the wild
Strategy: Panda deviates. She loves to think logically and is often a few steps ahead of the physical situation, but she's also... Panda. Some moves are well-planned and carefully executed, and some blocks are pulled while she's laughing at something else. This baby is STRUCTURALLY SOUND!!!
Motivation: Pan has fixated upon the bubblegum tape.

Ferdie

Name: Ferdie Ayers
Strategy: He plans a lot. Maybe too much. He's pretty okay at wiggling out pieces even if it takes a long time.
Motivation: It's kind of almost a crown, so he wants to win it for Ursula's sake because he should make up for being Dumb. So hey, pretty motivated!
Anything else? He's probably not actually great here.

Ursula

Name: Ursula de Luca
Strategy: Ursula treats Gaming Club like social hour and chats a lot during other people's turns, which is kind of a strategy??? She makes a lot of faces when it's her turn, as if somehow she can plead with the tower to stay put.
Motivation: Well, it is crown colored.
Anything else? I almost don't want to post this, but she is very bad and should not win.

MEANWHILE: Essie, Jeffy, and a Foolproof Plan

Jeffy has never been any good at lying. He gets twisted up, forgets what he said before, never covers his tracks and just gets a stomachache. Even with Lucas taking the burden of actually lying to Essie, he felt bad being a part of it. She thought this was official Candy Rustling business, and even with a candy necklace she ring pop in his pocket that the nefarious Estella de Ville could heist from him, he feels bad.

But this whole thing has him feeling bad so it's, like, RELATIVE??

With Gaming Club unfolding in the atrium, Jeffy heads back to the random classroom Lucas had pointed Essie toward, hoping this wasn't about to just make things WORSE. Can't he and Essie just keep kind-of-dating and never actually defining anything??

Ophelia, Austin & Witnesses

Ophelia's not part of Gaming Club, but that rarely stops her from appearing when and where she wants. She arrives about fifteen minutes late, tosses her hair, and starts walking straight towards Austin. She's not here to play. She'd needed a boy with charms to win the high tea competition, but no one's going to be grading her at the dance. Austin can stammer adorably as much as he wants.

"Austinnnnn," she calls, sing-song sweet. She stops in front of her target, standing over him, and puts her hands on her hips. "What are your plans for the dance?" That's when the sugary act stops. "Wait, nevermind, I don't care. You're taking me."

Ursula & Her Fine Floured Friend

Ursula chews at her bottom lip. One wrong choice could easily spell disaster here. Her hand hovers between two columns, plastic disc clasped between her fingers. Left or right? She lowers the disc towards the right column, but still holds firm, glancing up to see if she can read any reaction on Ferdie's face. When she can't, she crinkles up her nose and abruptly switches to the other column, letting the disc drop with a satisfying clack.

"Learn anything interesting today," she asks, trying very hard to keep a straight oh-so-innocent face. Call it a distraction tactic.
