It's a really bad habit this school has, to lump people or groups into categories they can never get out of.

I'm going to. And you can ignore it if you want. But I think you're making a generalization based on a few bad experiences and you shouldn't. Because no one speaks for everyone in their year, even if they act like they do. A lot of students have said well shit things about each other, sophomores and juniors and seniors alike. And I think it's worth keeping in mind.

Sure. Everyone is capable of being nice. Everyone has said bad things, too, or at least questionable. But maybe if some kinder juniors and seniors called out those who claim to be speaking for the whole class, it wouldn't keep happening.

That's not what I'm saying. If people treated you badly, you've got every right to be upset. I'm just saying I don't think it's productive to be upset with an entire year when most of those people didn't have anything to do with it. It just deepens the divide that's already there.

I am starting to feel like this arbitrary divide is both insurmountable and bought into by too many. Okay, poor example, but Casey's whole thing about no sophs? I mean, I couldn't care less who Casey Patterson kisses and people can make whatever restrictions they want on who they make out with. Its not that. It's the whole 'discount every sophomore' because it's repellent. Did anyone else go "You know, not all sophomores are immature" or similar. No, all the juniors and seniors on that post agreed and even made fun of it. The only people saying "that's a gross generalization" were other sophomores and they were discounted.

That's my reasoning. I honestly didn't even want to go into this because I'm just feeling bad in general, but I can at least try and articulate it. Of course not all seniors and juniors. There

Last year everyone underestimated us because we were sophomores or just generally talked down to us and that's like kind of why we all ended up banding together and being so close as a class??? If no one was gonna take us seriously then we were just gonna have to take care of things ourselves and prove them wrong you know??? We made our own Quidditch league and we held se [...] investigated the weird stuff that was happening even though all the older kids just wanted to shut us away in our cabins where we'd be safe. [.......] Which is like NOT to say that you guys should all go out hunting for mimics or anything since that's like super dangerous!!!

I guess I'm just trying to say that YEAH it can super stink and like if you're upset about kissing and dating and stuff then I know how you feel I got told all the same things by seniors and [...] I know it seems like all the cute boys are WAY older and that's what makes them so cute but if you look around you might notice some of the boys in your year are pretty cute too.

I'm upset when someone says they don't want anything to do with me because I'm a sophomore. That discredits everything I am in one fell swoop. It doesn't matter how smart I am or if I'm kind or clever or funny. It's all made utterly irrelevant because of my year? It's shitty. What a way to make someone feel like crap.
