[Ribbonfin Quidditch]

Pour one out for the brave souls who drank in our stead for the quidpong tournament last night. I think I almost got De Luca killed and I feel super bad.

So, like, anyway, I know I'm just Forever Reserve Lewis or whatever, but I was looking at the numbers and thinking, and we've really benefited this year from all the long, grueling games we've had. As much as it sucked sometimes, we're on top of the points bracket because of it. I compared averages and guys, honestly? Coppertale's chasers consistently outperform us and ~~Reid's just un-fucking-believable~~ their seeker is ~~unstoppable~~ [...] also a consistent overachiever and, my dudes and dudettes, it ain't a negligible difference. Their keeper's also weaker than Avery, though, so we have that advantage.

Maybe we should try to drag this one out? More points is better for the cup, anyway.

Obviously, like, if we go this route keeping Reid distracted and off the snitch is going to be super important.

Yeah, I bet anyone who drank last night is like, seriously regretting it.

And oh shit, for real? I had no idea it was our endurance that was working in our favor. I thought we were just that baller. Wait, I want to know everything about the places we suck. Did you, like, look the [ ... ] point density of each game or whatever?

Use simple words, because unlike some people, I'm not great at math.

So, we scored an average of 12.6 goals per game, which is better than Coppertale's 11.6. But we did it across 10.5 hours of play, give or take, versus Coppertale's [...] 9ish? So spread it out and they're better. BUT, Avery's a good keeper and Coppertale's is weaker so I think if we stretch it it'll play to our advantage.

Okay and that would all be fine but two of our games were long due to unforeseen circumstances like a missing snitch and really shit weather where we couldn't see anything. It isn't just about points scored. It's about points let up. It's about consistency in performance. It's about capability.

It wouldn't be smart to go against Reid hoping for time. We'd have to focus on making him not get the snitch and ending the game, and that would allow their chasers to run down the field uninterrupted. We can't hope for a long game.

So, big picture, if we go short and Ebonhide/Azurcrest goes long, Ebonhide could easily take the cup from us. The longer we play, the more pressure is on keepers, yeah, but you're a strong keeper, Cap and it's gonna be easier for our lovely Trio of Terror to score against Velasquez than for Coppertale's chasers to get much past you.

If we go short and score 100 points, Ebonhide / Azurecrest would need to score at least 170 points to win. They average 130. In fact, the only times they have even reached higher than 170 was playing against Coppertale, who totally choked, and against us in that bullshit game without a snitch.

The chances of them scoring over 170 points are low. We average 150 points/game. We've never scored under 130 points. So if we score our lowest ever with 100, they still need to score almost their highest to take the lead. Same for Azurcrest, who averages even less points a game.

Okay, I'm not a Beater, but I'm not sure why they can't send a Bludger in Wainwright's direction every once in a while. Chasers don't just soft toss the Quaffle back and forth. We run interference too. If we play a little more aggressively, we might be able to compensate for the 5 minutes Fanning and/or [ ... ] Lewis is distracted.

[ ... ] The timing might be tricky, though. If we did it wrong, we'd leave a hole in our defenses. If we did it right, we'd run Coppertale into the ground.

That's what we do every game, and several of those games we've lost the snitch anyway.

So don't mind me if I disagree that "sending a bludger to Reid every once in a while" is probably not good enough to keep him off his game for long.
