BEST FRIENDS POTION

A mimic disguised as Archimedes Rose drugs the water at breakfast with the latest version of his altered Amortentia. Luckily, the current batch is relatively harmless. However, it's not without any effect.

HOW THIS WORKS

If your student drinks the water, then they'll be convinced that the next person they see is their best friend. Why did they only notice just now how amaaazing this person is? They've never felt closer to anyone else.

Archie had been calling this latest failed attempt Philidosi.

The effects will last all day, and since this isn't necessarily dangerous, there won't be a quarantine. They will be keeping an eye on everyone, though. Just in case.

Archie will be accused of the drugging, but Ariadne Flint is able to provide an airtight alibi that saves him from punishment. It's concluded that a mimic was behind the incident.

All matches will be assumed to be reciprocated unless you specifically arrange something else. (For instance, if you wanted to play Stewart as thinking Alice is his best friend while Alice definitely disagrees because she was not drugged, you'll have to plan that on your own and inform the mods when you sign up.)

Since this is relatively harmless, staff will not impose a quarantine. They'll be keeping their eyes on students, however.

What Your Character Will Experience:
- The only warning is that seconds before the incident occurs, affected characters will notice that the water tastes a bit odd, but in a pleasant way. The first person they make eye contact with in that state will suddenly appear to be the more incredible, interesting, amazing person they've ever seen. Their new best friend. Why didn't they ever appreciate how great they were before now???
- At the end of the day, the affected characters will snap back to reality. They will no longer feel anything out of the ordinary.
Dr. Perry will be available to counsel any students shaken up by the day's events.

Tobias looks down at Riley like she's hung the moon, eyes comically wide and shining with admiration. Dang, she's right. What good were these Dagwood sandwiches without a crunch layer? This is what he'd been missing the whole time. Man, how had he never realised that he was going to school with a genius?

"Heck yeah! I'll get them for you," he promises, excitement evident. "Oh," he adds, and there's a brief pause as two thoughts are forced to squeeze their way through his head back-to-back. He looks a shade less enthusiastic. "... but where?"

"Uhhhh," Riley is not supposed to be the brains of an operation, and she really isn't sure where Cheetos would be kept. Or any kind of chip. She's used to just asking for things and expecting others to provide. But that's okay! Riley wants Toby to succeed! He's working so hard for her, and if he needs a strong hand to guide him to the right place, she can do that just for him. "We gonna have to steal some. From, like," she thinks hard for a very long second, forcing the little hamster in her head to work overtime, "Cammy."

Or they could just ask a house elf.

But this seems more fun??

"Dude!" Tobias says, pumping his fist in a burst of enthusiasm. "Yeah, no, I can totally do that!"

Wait a second — steal? He can do that... but... should he? That sounds sort of bad. His eyes slide to Riley, then over to Cameron, well across the cafeteria. Then down to his sandwich. Riley. Cameron. Sandwich. Riley, Cameron, sandwich.

He knew what he had to do.

Tobias looks very serious as he adds, "I should probably warn you that I'm pretty bad at, like, stealth missions and stuff. Even with video games. Which is kind of messed up, because you can't even hear your own feet in Alpha Protocol." One might get the impression that he thinks heavy footfall is a major problem for the average American.

K, so, Riley has no clue what the fuck he's talking about, but "Alpha Protocol" sounds like something a smart person would say. Clearly, Toby is of these genius people.

"Boo boo, baby, my perfect darling angel boy, my absolute treasure," Riley leans over, putting a hand on either cheek and smushes his little face. "You gonna have to pull your shit together for me and we're gonna lie our asses off to get us some goddamned Cheetos. Now put me on your back and giddyup."
