BEST FRIENDS POTION

A mimic disguised as Archimedes Rose drugs the water at breakfast with the latest version of his altered Amortentia. Luckily, the current batch is relatively harmless. However, it's not without any effect.

HOW THIS WORKS

• If your student drinks the water, then they'll be convinced that the next person they see is their best friend. Why did they only notice just now how amaaazing this person is? They've never felt closer to anyone else.


• Archie had been calling this latest failed attempt Philidosi.


• The effects will last all day, and since this isn't necessarily dangerous, there won't be a quarantine. They will be keeping an eye on everyone, though. Just in case.


• Archie will be accused of the drugging, but Ariadne Flint is able to provide an airtight alibi that saves him from punishment. It's concluded that a mimic was behind the incident.


• All matches will be assumed to be reciprocated unless you specifically arrange something else. (For instance, if you wanted to play Stewart as thinking Alice is his best friend while Alice definitely disagrees because she was not drugged, you'll have to plan that on your own and inform the mods when you sign up.)


• Since this is relatively harmless, staff will not impose a quarantine. They'll be keeping their eyes on students, however.


• What Your Character Will Experience:
  • The only warning is that seconds before the incident occurs, affected characters will notice that the water tastes a bit odd, but in a pleasant way. The first person they make eye contact with in that state will suddenly appear to be the more incredible, interesting, amazing person they've ever seen. Their new best friend. Why didn't they ever appreciate how great they were before now???
  
  
  • At the end of the day, the affected characters will snap back to reality. They will no longer feel anything out of the ordinary.
• Dr. Perry will be available to counsel any students shaken up by the day's events.


• If you want to plan any last minute besties, you can. Just let the mods know and we'll sneak them on the list.

Normally, Eileen has a lot of opinions about relationships - they're dangerous and not fated to last and someone is always going to mess it up. And normally she'd share that very useful information with anyone she was close enough with. But she just can't do that to her absolute best friend in the world, because he's just so adorable, and he's still young, and anyway she likes Spencer, so instead she's just going to give Ira some very important advice on how to make his dating life even better.

Sitting in some of the chairs in the atrium, Eileen leans to set a hand on Ira's knee. "Look, I know you and Spencer are doing great with your weirdly public game of affection chicken or whatever that was, but, you've got to trust me on this one. You have to learn how to tell him he's sexy in Korean. It'll make things a million times better. Also how to ask him to grab your ass."

Eileen's maybe the smartest person in the world, and Ira's sure she'd never steer him wrong. He's really lucky to have all these people to look up to, especially her. If she has any relationship advice, he'll take it all the way to heart. And his relationship is in fact so public right now that he just grins while it's being called out.

"You think he'd like that?" He leans forward, considering. "I mean, I kinda wanted to learn some Korean anyway."

"He will be All. Over. That. Shit," Eileen informs Ira, patting his knee with each word for effect. She's definitely the smartest person in the world, Ira - you can trust her. "I can teach you all the important stuff, like ass grabbing requests, and also some really trashy stuff that you should only pull out on special occasions. Like. Real trashy." Here she winks, wearing a grin that matches his.

"I just want to help you guys out, because you deserve it. Spencer's so cute. You're so cute. It's just nice."

"Well you sound like you know what you're talking about." Ira says, and there's much more admiration in it than sarcasm, for once. He shoves at her arm with his fingertips, not rough, just playfully affectionate. It's still the best way he has to show his appreciation without having to sound mushy as hell.

That done, he sits upright in his chair, leaning in, a perfect student for her, his most accomplished teacher.

"Hit me, I'm ready, how trashy are we talking?"

Eileen does know what she's talking about. Thanks for noticing! Maybe she should adopt Ira.

"You sure you're ready for this?" But she doesn't wait for a response - instead she leans over to whisper something (in English) in his ear, just in case there's a passing freshman. It definitely involves multiple scandalous body parts, and the word 'suck.' It's incredibly inappropriate. She's still grinning as she pulls back.

"Like, that level of trashy. Again. Special occasions only, or it'll lose its magic."

Ira, entirely against his better judgment, snorts out a laugh behind his hand. "Shit, and it's not even his birthday til like October." He smirks, because he doesn't see a reason to not say potentially humiliating things around Eileen, his best friend.

"So we can like, work our way up to that one. What's something I should ward him? Like right now." He thinks this is the best way to show how dedicated he is to these lessons, and quirks an eyebrow up to emphasize it.

Ira's laugh makes Eileen smile even more, if that's possible. What a good way to spend the afternoon - she should probably do this more often. Once again she pats his knee before leaning back, shaking her head at his admission.

"There are other special occasions before then, like First Alone Time During Summer, which is a great holiday. But, agreed, we should start small. You want the surprise to be there. He won't know what hit him when you pull that out. He'll be putty in your hands."

Looking thoughtful, she grabs a notebook from her bag and jots something down before holding it out to him. "Write this - 'Hey sexy.' Easy stuff." She's written 헤이 섹시 in a very clear hand.

"Or he'll think I'm actually possessed." He points out, his smile turning unusually soft. This is the most open he's been to anyone except Spencer himself in months, but it isn't unnatural. It's nice.

While he talks, he works a notebook out of his own bag, labelling a page Dirty Korean, flashing it at Eileen so she can appreciate it, and then settling down to recreate the phrase. "Hey." He says, a second later, still never happy in silence. He pokes out his foot and pushes her chair to regain her attention. "So are YOU gonna pass this off to anyone?" He waves her notebook around with one hand.

Ira is not the obvious choice for boy-talk, but he'd had a couple good months in the fake-best-friend gauntlet, recently.

"Hey, it'd be the hottest possession he's ever seen." Despite this joking answer, Eileen reaches to push his shoulder just a little bit, in recognition of his softened features. She's just returning the favor, anyway.

Ira's willingness to learn warms her feelings towards him even more; what a good kid. "I love a motivated student."

As Ira works, Eileen peers off into the atrium, but she's quickly drawn back by the movement of her chair. There's a moment of real consideration at his question, because this is Ira, her best friend, and she can tell him anything, right? But... maybe not. At least, not in the middle of the atrium. Maybe over a glass of whiskey on the rocks. "Nah, I'm trying to protect all the sweet boys and girls from Hurricane Eileen."

"I have all A's." He brags, just cocky enough to smirk about it. He figures it's fine if he's still working hard at copying. This is a little difficult. "You gotta tell me how to say this sometime, too."

He pauses, though, at her answer, and glances up again. She's thinking about the answer, he can tell, and he's never been good at just leaving something be when he thinks there's more to a story. So he kicks her chair one more time, to show he's still being annoying about it, mostly. "Really? That's no fun."

Eileen actually looks proud of Ira for this, because school is important, and of course her darling best friend is doing so well in his classes. Resisting the urge to pinch his cheek, she leans back in her seat and crosses her legs. "Oh I will, so you can yell it at him across the cafeteria. But maybe not when Ms. Rhee is around."

The second kick to her chair just has her rolling her eyes, even as her smile remains. "Fine, I've got my eye on someone. Just a bit. But it's not going to go anywhere because I know better."

"Ms. Rhee expects that by now." He echoes her eye roll, but he looks a little smug doing it. "I probably won't yell it though. Or I'll fuck it up right in front of everyone." That is, in fact, kind of his luck.

He curls his feet to the side, though, after that last kick.His self satisfaction remains, but there's real concern there too. He looks up from his work again, apparently easily distractable today. "Well. I mean, if I've learned anything this year, you can't not do things because you know better."

"I would say she'd know it's me who taught you, but Spencer is a way more obvious culprit. I'm fine letting him take the fall."

With a laugh, Eileen waves a hand at Ira in response to his potential linguistic mistakes. And, honestly, to the slight concern on his face too.

"There are, like, four people at this school who speak Korean, so you'd barely embarrass yourself. And... yeah, yeah, I make a lot of bad decisions. Just don't know if I'm willing to make this one." Here she tilts her head, a little curious, and a little anxious to get off their current subject. "What things were you getting up to that you shouldn't've?"
