BEST FRIENDS POTION

A mimic disguised as Archimedes Rose drugs the water at breakfast with the latest version of his altered Amortentia. Luckily, the current batch is relatively harmless. However, it's not without any effect.

HOW THIS WORKS

If your student drinks the water, then they'll be convinced that the next person they see is their best friend. Why did they only notice just now how amaaazing this person is? They've never felt closer to anyone else.

Archie had been calling this latest failed attempt Philidosi.

The effects will last all day, and since this isn't necessarily dangerous, there won't be a quarantine. They will be keeping an eye on everyone, though. Just in case.

Archie will be accused of the drugging, but Ariadne Flint is able to provide an airtight alibi that saves him from punishment. It's concluded that a mimic was behind the incident.

All matches will be assumed to be reciprocated unless you specifically arrange something else. (For instance, if you wanted to play Stewart as thinking Alice is his best friend while Alice definitely disagrees because she was not drugged, you'll have to plan that on your own and inform the mods when you sign up.)

Since this is relatively harmless, staff will not impose a quarantine. They'll be keeping their eyes on students, however.

What Your Character Will Experience:
- The only warning is that seconds before the incident occurs, affected characters will notice that the water tastes a bit odd, but in a pleasant way. The first person they make eye contact with in that state will suddenly appear to be the more incredible, interesting, amazing person they've ever seen. Their new best friend. Why didn't they ever appreciate how great they were before now???
- At the end of the day, the affected characters will snap back to reality. They will no longer feel anything out of the ordinary.
Dr. Perry will be available to counsel any students shaken up by the day's events.

Tally's been in a low mood since her fight with Marie, one that's been utterly persistent. She's not used to her moods sticking around for more than a few days, but she's also not self-aware enough to speculate on why exactly she's taking this so badly, so she's just been in a funk.

That ends today, because today? She has a new best friend, and his name is Chad.

"We should give you a makeover," she suggests to Chad about thirty seconds after drinking Archie's potion.

Chad relaxed as much as Chad ever relaxes as soon as he took a sip of his water. He doesn't need to worry about waking up in a lake or being shoved in a locker around Tally. She gets him, and she wouldn't let him die. He nods at her proposal, immediately.

"Yeah, totally." The only thing he knows about makeovers is they involve taking off glasses, so he dutifully removes his and blinks into the light. "What do I have to do?"

"Well, we have to get rid of your glasses, obviously," she says, snatching them right out of his hands. Hope you didn't want to be able to see today, Chad. "I used to wear glasses, and everyone made fun of me for it, too."

Chad already looks way better, in Tally's opinion, but she considers him carefully. He needs an entire new looking, if she's being honest.

"Do you have any leather jackets?" she asks.

"They did?? But you're so COOL." Chad wrinkles his nose with completely non-ironic confusion. Tally is cool. She has a band and he's safe in her hands when it comes to style. He's sure of that.

And he really can't see. Chad rubs at his eyes, a little, but he doesn't say anything about it. He's probably going to be knocking into walls all day, but Tally says it's better, and she obviously knows best. Except maybe when it came to the potential items in his closet. "Uh, NO. Should I? My dad has one. I tried it on ONE time but it looked SUPER dumb."

He'd also tried to hijack his dad's third motorcycle to at least take pictures, but he'd fallen over in process, so it's not an experience he shares very often.

"Thank you!" Tally says, effusive and genuine despite the potion. She's easy to compliment. "But I wasn't very popular at Ilvermorny."

This leather jacket revelation doesn't really surprise Tally. She's never met Chad's dad, but she imagines him as being totally built for some reason. "It probably didn't fit you right!" she says. "Maybe mine would?" She's got a couple leather jackets, and one of them is pink. She'll probably spare Chad that unfortunate fate.

"YEAH, well you're popular HERE." There's no malice or jealousy to that. She is popular here, because of course she is. "I've never been popular EVER."
He sighs a little, like this is some great surprise. "But maybe I would be with a leather jacket?"

His voice goes up impossibly high at the end of this because he's not sure at all. Like, it worked for some people. "Do they look like GIRLY ones...?"
