AZURCREST SLEDDING: Aftermath
During lunch comes the moment everyone's been waiting for, although Headmistress Bloom seems exasperated with having to deliver schoolwide lectures, and keeps this one short. She reminds everyone that sledding down the hill to Azurcrest is against the rules and has been for years, and that's not changing any time soon. Everyone who was present yesterday afternoon knew that and have received a blanket punishment: loss of twenty-five house points each, one week's detention, and two weeks banned from the sauna (if applicable). The Heads of House have contacted your parents about engaging in dangerous activities and underage drinking (if applicable).
"Come on, everyone," Bloom finishes. "Stop doing such stupid things."
The following characters have been punished:
(If your character received a serious injury, they were automatically added to the list when they had to see Healer Mufferaw for medical attention. If you would like your character to be added to the list, just leave a comment below. If you really need your character to avoid IC consequences, comment below and we'll discuss it.)
Mr. Merrill asks Quinn Cunningham and Jesse McBride to see him in his office at 12:45 PM, after they've finished eating. (Cecil Honeychurch can attend this meeting too, if he wishes.) He also keeps it short. "Listen... I know we're the 'fun house', but I still look to you guys to stop these things. You're both smart, and you know when it crosses a line. I want Azurcrest to be the place where kids are free to have fun and make mistakes, but it's becoming a problem when we've also got the reputation for not caring about being responsible or keeping each other safe. Guys, I know that's not true. I'm relying on you as the senior prefects to make sure that's not true." He sighs. "That's all. I mailed your parents this morning, and you can help Cecil decide how everyone in Azurcrest should serve their detentions."

...he feels a little guilty about the others, though.

In her afternoon classes it's obvious that she's having difficulty paying attention, and if you see her in the library afterwards... uh, maybe it's best not to approach without a really good reason.

hopingexpecting the Headmistress to take charge because this was a school-wide incident....he sort of has a conflict of interest.

However, if Cecil feels he can't be impartial for some students (and Merrill is understanding of the fact that seven of the punished Azurcrests are seniors, and Cecil's close friends), then Merrill can make the final decision there. Cecil only needs to ask.

He supposes, unhappily, that that's how it should be though.
He thanks Mr. Merrill, but assures him that the three of them will manage before.

Cue the waterworks.

He's never had detention before. WHERE DID HE GO WRONG???

He's attentive when Headmistress Bloom is speaking and quick to shush anyone nearby who might be talking, "C'mon, man..." If there is time before he is called in to speak with Mr. Merrill, he makes it a point to go around and personally apologize to, at least, the Senior prefects, most especially--Ravi, Nate, Maggie, and Rafael. Surprise guys, Jesse is actually a really eloquent and earnest guy when he wants to be. He's sure of himself, but not too proud. Here's your first glimpse into the logic behind why this fool was made prefect.
His main objective in Mr. Merrill's office is to run interference on Quinn's salty tude. He speaks for them both, with charisma and composure that may seem surprising to Cecil and Quinn, but is probably pretty on par with how Mr. Merrill views Jesse. It's obvious this is a guy that spends a lot of his time selling himself for grant money and giving acceptance speeches. He makes it sound like Quinn and he conferred about their "commitment to setting a better example," even though they haven't. It's always "we," never I. The only interaction he actually has with Quinn during all this is almost imperceptibly knocking his hand against hers before they walk out, in a way that's supposed to mean, "Don't run out. Be cool."
After their meeting, he'll walk to class with Cecil.

(...Although I guess it's completely in character for Etta to think a bunch of teenagers nearly killing themselves isn't a big deal.)

Thanks for the quick response! :*

He makes sad faces at Cecil whenever he thinks he's not looking, but then when caught casually returns to his food or his sketchbook like it was just a coincidence he was looking over at Cecil. So smooth, Morales.

Riley is also probably literally just getting coal for Christmas, because Riley's mom gives a lot of fucks.

He got your broken nose too, Riley!

Like do sprained wrists heal naturally because there's no bone to mend? And things like gashes have tergeo to stop bleeding but is that it? (Sorry I'm an idiot lol)
no subject
I'm assuming Healer Mufferaw would also treat a sprained wrist, since that counts as an actual injury. Healing a sprained wrist would probably take even less time than a broken bone, and I've established that Mufferaw would give you a magical salve for it.
AFAIK, Tergeo cleans blood but it doesn't stop bleeding or heal the wound. Mufferaw is a hardass when it comes to cuts and bruises, so you'll just have to walk those off; however if the cut is serious enough that normally it might call for a few stitches, you can go to the infirmary to fix it without a scar.
Mufferaw is relatively lax about disciplining students, so we're leaving it to people who got sprains or cuts to decide whether or not they went to the Healer and whether or not they got written up for punishment. I hope that helps?

But according to Pottermore, "Wizards would have the power to correct or override 'mundane' nature, but not 'magical' nature... bones broken in non-magical accidents such as falls or fist fights can be mended by magic, but the consequences of curses or backfiring magic could be serious, permanent or life-threatening."
So, basically, injuries obtained like this, in a mundane way, are easy fixes, but if they broke it in a magical way or if they'd, like, tried to heal themselves and the spell went off, then that would take as long as it would take a Muggle to heal themselves, I think??
no subject
In cases where it matters that the character needs to maintain their non-magical injury/disability for plot reasons, we're letting this fall in the grey area opened up by so many people being nearsighted and needing glasses in HP. So there are some non-magical things which can't be Healed by magic, such as Rafael's dance injury or Frankie being deaf.
