CARNEY PARTY 2: BIRTHDAY BASH

IT’S CAMERON’S BIRTHDAY, HAVE YOU HEARD??? If he has any say so, yes, you have. He’s having a birthday party and everyone is invited.

It’s a delightful afternoon in Olympus, with a high of 79 and clear skies. The house is decked out in a tropical beach theme, with real palm trees sprouting up everywhere (even inside??). Just like Cameron’s last party, his mama has found somewhere else to be, so the kids have the run of the place.

As with past parties Cameron has held, the rules are simple: have fun, don’t make too much of a mess, if you break something reparo it, and don’t try to get into any of the locked rooms (the master bedroom, office, and recording studio).

For dinner, a house elf catering company appears, laying out an impressive spread of Mexican food. Whether you want the genuine thing, or shameless Americanized food, they’re prepared.

There’s also plenty of alcohol - beer, liquor, wine, you name it.

» LIVING ROOM; PARTY GAMES: Though the pool is heated, the temperatures drop to a chilly 50 degrees as the sun sets, so it might be time to move inside. There are various party games: drinking games, F/M/K, and kissing games.

» THEATER ROOM; KARAOKE: The theater room is set up with comfy couches and a screen the size of the wall. Tonight, there’s also speakers and a microphone hooked up. Karaoke time! The Carneys are fans of all kinds of music, so feel free to sing whatever you want!

» BEDROOMS/LIVINGROOMS/ETC; SLEEPY TIME: Anyone and everyone is welcome to stay, but it’s up to you to figure out where, because Cameron isn’t organizing it. There are five unlocked bedrooms, plenty of couches and chairs, five full baths, and lots of floor space. Work it out.

It is the first real day Avery can be out and about. The second she remembered Cam's party, she begged Ollie to go and off they went. There was definitely something different about Avery when she arrives, though it's impossible to figure out what it is unless you're in the now. However, she is wearing a pair of tight jeans which she as not in her entire time at Gooseberry done. She has a figure, ya'll. And you can see it.

She walks up to Cam and hands him the two gifts she got for him. "Happy Birthday Cam!" She gives him a hug, too, and a kiss on the cheek!

Riley Mae

Riley's mom is going to have a full Home Alone moment when she gets back to Anchorage and realizes she hasn't seen Riley in like three days. Because she's here, and she only kind of vaguely mentioned to one of her sisters that she was going to Tennessee, byyyeeeee. She gives Cameron the BIGGEST HUG when she gets there, ramming her blue head right into his stomach.

"I got you a tiaraaaaa," she says as she dances around with her beach ball. I think Riley just has a bunch of cheap tiaras lying around.

Iliya Krum

Iliya has never heard the words "pool party" before, much less appropriately dressed for one. He's in all black, with long sleeves and pants, and looks unlikely to jump into the water unless he's peer pressured, in which case yeah it's totally going to happen. However, as promised, he's not wearing a hat and let Kenzie put product in his hair.

In any case, he would never miss Cameron's birthday, even if Kenzie wasn't already dragging him here. "Happy birthday," Iliya says. "In England, you are an adult." He has a small present for Cameron: a leather case with five stainless steel shot glasses stacked inside of it, for the party man on the go.

Mackenzie

Kenzie shows up with her braided in a crown (pretend her hair's, y'know, red) wearing a floor length sun dress. Although she may be aiming for a more loose and dressed down beach party appropriate appearance, it's still clear that Iliya got to hang out with her for a while as she got dressed.

She gives Cameron a kiss on the cheek and hands him his present. "For your cabin," she explains. It's a door harp that you hang outside, and whenever something approaches it automatically makes a pleasant ringing inside. Cameron can set it to play any tune he likes, and can even personalize it so that different people trigger different songs. "Have fun choosing your roommates' theme songs."

Robin

Robin didn't mention to anyone he was going to this party, he was just mildly bored the last night before school and he heard the word "party," so here we are.

"SUP DUDE," Robin says as he bounces in, grabs the beach ball, and bounces through. He did not buy Cameron a present. Robin doesn't buy a lot of people presents.

Penelope Vargas

Penny makes sure she is looking super hot today. She's feeling the burn from Wilde even if it wasn't really a burn and she knew what the outcome was going to be. "Never missing a Cam Carney party ever, Happy fuckin Birthday, bro!" She hands him his present, a box of wizard candies she thought he might like.

CASEY

Casey chest-bumps Cameron and announces "HAPPY FUCKIN' B-DAY, BRO!" He didn't bring a present because Casey doesn't do presents, also, his shirt is already gone. Where did it go? Who the fuck even knows.

Jacob

Jacob comes trailing in after Casey. Hey, Cameron, have you guys ever even talked? Whatever! Jacob's totally here to drink your booze. And celebrate your birthday. That too. At least his shirt is still on. "Happy birthday, Bro!"

Addy Foster-Hayes

Addy is here to round out her week of poor life choices and liver murder, and it's AWESOME. She brings a present for Cameron and I don't know what it is because I'm awful, but it is thoughtful. She promises. She hugs him upon arrival, because you do not have to be best of friends to hug people hello on their birthdays.

In the new tradition of drinking and making poor decisions to deal with things that make her upset, Vee is of course not going to pass up another chance to party on spring break. Especially not when it's Cammy's birthday! Since he lives in Tennessee, and she's from Arizona after all, she throws a little cowgirl into her outfit; her tank top even referencing a famous song for good measure. Yes, she's wearing cowboy boots. Yes, they'll probably be discarded fairly quickly but. Aesthetics. Her hair incorporates some braiding before being left to its own devices, and she throws her arms around Cam excitedly upon arrival.

"Happy birthday, darling," she says, and then asks where she can put his gifts (a fancy flask and some homemade cookies she made).

Wilde is late.

It takes Wilde a while to get here. His mom is like... really mad at him, actually. But like. Sort of the defeated kind? She didn't even try to keep him in his room with charmwork or anything interesting at all.

ANYWAY. He shows up while the party is well underway, wearing a magically enhanced backpack full of all his stuff (the plan is to stay and bus back to school with Cam, if there are no complaints). Sid is in his hoodie pocket and has nonverbally agreed to be quiet and maybe go hang out in a potted planet or something.

Cam gets a bag of Japanese pineapple gummies for a gift, because Wilde sucks at this stuff.

Bianca Dubois

Thankful for Avery's persuasiveness, Bianca showed up to Cameron's party STRAIGHT OUTTA ALASKA with a small gift in hand. Despite everyone being invited, she felt it was the least she could do for crashing his party when she didn't know him very well. "So you can document tonight's events," she says with a small smile. "Happy Birthday!"

Ennis brings a gift crafted by Satan himself

Ennis has had time to shop over the break since the visit to Myrtle Beach and he's surprisingly vain enough to have purchased an entirely new swim outfit to fit his woodsy #aesthetic just for this party. It's a Carney Party. He has to look good for a Carney Party.

He knows that Cam likes singing and he likes being the center of attention and so Ennis bought him a magical megaphone toy that will change his voice to several different obnoxious pitches and effects. Perfect for annoying stoic roommates, though Ennis didn't really think that far ahead. Sorry, guys.

"Happy birthday!" he greets, going in for a one-armed hug.

Cricket Quayle

Cricket comes bearing gifts and a truly excessive balloon bouquet! In addition to the gift bags full of goodies—candy, fireworks, glitter bombs, etc—there is a card from the Quayles with four tickets to Cameron's [MUSIC FESTIVAL OF CHOICE]. The card is overflowing with praise and affection from Susannah Quayle, leaving the rest of the family to squeeze in their notes on the back.

Her arms are full, but she pushes up on her toes and presses her glossy lips to one cheek. "That one's from me," she explains, before leaning over to kiss the other, "And that one's from mama."

And you damn right she swims. Avery, who hasn't ever even changed in front of her roommates before, breaks out her brand new swim suit and joins in with anyone swimming! She will definitely not drown anyone but she's not above splashing in the pool.

And then immediately wondered if there was a certain someone he should have, like, invited or whatever. This is why he can't handle relationships. Is it too late? It's too late. Fuck. What timezone is Xavier even in? Where does he even live?

Reid is sitting on one of the chairs by the pool, staring out into the distance with a white knuckle grip on his journal as he debates the social propriety of inviting someone to a party an hour after it's already begun. From the outside it looks like pretty standard Reid-going-into-screensaver-mode, though.

Penelope has no problem swimming. In fact, she has been swimming or hot-tubbing this entire Spring Break and she's gotta say, the warmth of the pool is nice. She's wearing a bathing suit she grabbed from home before coming over and spends part of the time swimming, the other part of the time just floating around or laying out on one of the beach towels and relaxing.

It's dark outside and a bit too nippy to keep swimming. After wandering the Carney house and using very scientific methods that included wandering from room to room, waving his phone around like a drunken idiot, Ennis has finally found the sweet spot for cell service in this Wizard-only city.

He's lounged in one of the bath tubs with a bottle of blueberry vodka and a bottle of lemonade at his side, phone propped up against one of the bottles as he watches a grainy compilation video of animal Vines. He can't contain his laughter. Everything is hilarious.
