OKAY. So. I hope no one’s mad I didn’t ward everyone I didn’t want to leave anyone out but I ALSO didn’t want to get in trouble for I hope I got everyone that wants to do this but obviously we're TOTALLY OPEN to suggestions!!

SO we’re going out to the Grotto tomorrow night and we have to make sure we’re ORGANIZED and READY because it might be our LAST CHANCE to talk to 2. We need to know WHAT TO ASK and HOW TO STAY SAFE.

WHAT TO ASK:

We know 2 isn’t like SUPER GREAT at answering our questions directly, so we need to make sure there is NO room for misinterpreting. We want to find out WHY 2 (or is it BRoTHeR??) tried to trap everyone in the woods, and how to make them STOP. I know I have a LOT of questions, but we should focus on getting 2 to STOP first.

We could ask WHO trapped everyone in the woods (because maybe it WASN’T EVEN BRoTHeR or 2???) and WHY? Can they control who sees the Grotto and WHY is it only students?? Did they send the message to Pippa about PROTECTING her and from what?? Should we ask about the skeleton mines????

What does everyone want to know or think we need to know?? Maybe we can make a BIG list and then narrow it down!!

Ok we should make sure we ask the MOST important questions first in case it gets tired or scared like it does sometimes on the Anonymous Posts!

We need to figure out WHO we're talking to first so we can make sure we're not wasting our time.

Are they the one that trapped people in the forest?? WHY? (Also maybe WHY they let them go? Which could be important in case WE get stuck.)

Will they stop?? And also will they stop going into people's cabins??

Was the Grotto ever part of the MINING settlement??

Should we ask [...] what they are? Does that seem RUDE?

um what other important questions should we ask???


HOW TO STAY SAFE:

No one is allowed to get TRAPPED in the woods!! I am DEFINITELY bringing LOTS OF SNACKS and WARM CLOTHES, but what else are we doing to make sure everyone is as SAFE as possible?? We had a LOT of ideas before (relays and maybe literally tying everyone together and definitely everyone checking in on the journals like every ten minutes or something) but we have to decide on probably at least ONE of them and work out LOGISTICS.

HOW WE PLAN TO STAY SAFE (SO FAR):
OK. Lucas has said that he will be GROUND CONTROL and stay back in case something goes CRAZY WRONG, and Cole is going to be the SAFETY LIAISON. Who else is staying behind?? How many of us are actually going??

We'll let Lucas (and ANYONE on the outside) know if anything happens through journals, BUT in case the journals go BERSERK or something:

Hazel is going to super unsuspiciously ask Ty to borrow his two-way mirror I think?

Send up FLARES

Essie has a compass to at least make sure we know ASAP if something has gone weird

OH and EVEN THOUGH we're breaking some MAJOR rules here, we should STILL use the buddy system!! NO ONE is getting lost ALONE.

Mina and Diego gave me a COMPASS for my birthday that points to where they are, so IN THEORY the Mina arm should be pointing to Ebonhide that late at night because there's like NO WAY she would be out breaking curfew???

Which doesn't really help if something INTERFERES with it, but I can keep it with me and watch it and if it starts going NUTS or something then that should let us know really QUICKLY if we're TRAPPED.

I was thinking we should at least ask if the Grotto was ever part of the mining settlement? I think that was something you mentioned as a possibility, Jeffy??

YEAH, it is!!! There's also a NORTH arm like a normal compass. Diego's taken me hiking A LOT so I know how to use it.

And yeah, it IS a really weird place to have a house. And 2 and 2's brother seem like they've probably been here for awhile? Is that true?? Or is that just something that like FEELS true??

RIGHT! But if I watch it while we're walking, then I might notice it acting funny suddenly. So it wouldn't help us get OUT, but we'd at least know we were in trouble faster? (Assuming it doesn't stop working WHILE we're having the seance.)

Maybe we should have a codeword, in case people get separated, because the things out there can impersonate students? Just in case?

UM if Zach stays behind with you guys then Zach DEFINITELY, but if it goes REALLY wrong do we think we need to tell an older prefect?? Maybe Reece since he's close by? Or a Ribbonfin prefect since they're right by the lodge?? [...] What does everyone else think?

How long would make YOU feel best?? Like would you think NOPE THEY DEFINITELY GOT STUCK AND MURDERED after ten?

Ok ok we can have a code, but I hope it can't read our journals because one time I said I hoped the woods would throw us a party over Christmas break and then Micah and I went out to the Grotto and there was a stick dude Christmas party and it was like the woods KNEW what we were looking for.

BUT if it can't read our journals or our wards THEN I think it should be something that like mostly sophomores should know. OR something completely random. LIKE we could just say "STOP SIGN" or something.

We should all bring water too. And a first aid kit. But it sounds like we have a relatively solid plan. I think our safety level has plateaued, outside of simply not going. Which isn't an option. Obviously. So.

we should leave a trail. Not food obviously, but maybe objects? We can charm some things to glow leave it on the trail?

I mean if the trail leads us out we know someone is messing with us, and we're not just "lost"
