PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

At the request of Olivia Sanchez, over the next two weeks, Ms. Lilywhite will be running open sessions helping students to cast the Patronus charm. The cafeteria is cleared for an hour every weekday after dinner, and any student is welcome to drop in to learn. As senior DADA students, Casper Kim and Mackenzie Prince are on hand to assist Ms. Lilywhite in guiding the lessons.

HOW THIS WORKS

Lessons take place after dinner for an hour every week day, except Wednesdays for D&F. Students are not required to attend every session. Because these sessions take place over 2 weeks, if your character is successful you can choose when they finally cast the charm.

If your character attends these sessions or takes DADA, they will at least learn what their patronus will be and will get a partial formation. The mods will roll to see if your character can cast a successful full-bodied patronus.

Occlumency students are presumed to already be well-versed with this spell, as it requires emotional control and self-awareness, which are invaluable skills in Occlumency, especially if you plan on becoming an Auror. Unless you choose otherwise, all Occlumency students automatically succeed, or can already cast the charm.
Occlumency students: Automatic success.
Seniors in DADA: 75% success.
Seniors not in DADA: 50% success.
Juniors in DADA: 65% success.
Juniors not in DADA: 40% success.
Sophomores in DADA: 55% success.
Sophomores not in DADA: 30% success.

If your character has been in Duelling & Fencing since at least last month (i.e. they're currently on the roster, you may not just sign up your character for D&F today to get the bonus), they'll earn a 10% bonus to their roll.

If your character fails, you may ask for a reroll in the dropbox after waiting one week, but you must also link to a conversation or scene with evidence they sought tutoring from a DADA Student in their year or above, or an Occlumency student.
- They'll gain +15% to their roll if they seek tutoring from Casper or Mackenzie, who received instructions from Ms. Lilywhite on techniques to help others master this complex charm.

You may not claim your character can already cast a patronus unless they succeeded during last year's event or are in Occlumency. This applies to new characters as well as returning ones.

Patronus Form: A Rosella parrot
Why?: People love Rosella parrots because they're small, colourful, playful, sociable birds that absolutely thrive on attention. They're possess the ability to sing back just about any tune you play for them. (They're not... smart, per se, but they are incredible mimics!) Which is super cute for like, ten minutes, until you realise that they are very, very loud. Rosella parrots become bored extremely easily, and they should never be left unsupervised for long periods, because without a cool new toy to occupy their attention, they have a tendency to bite at fingers, steal small items, and even start fires.
Their happy memory: She thinks of a totally random late night spent hanging out with her friends, messing around on toy instruments and generally way too loud for the hour. She choses this memory because it happened pretty recently, and like, she can't remember anything that happened > 6 months ago.
Their attempt: Ya girl Marie doesn't have too much trouble thinking up happy memories, but they're all things like "one time I bought one bag of Smarties and the vending machine gave me THREE!" so... it's possible they're not of the right... caliber. Whatever!!!
Are they in DADA, Occlumency or D&F?: Hahahaha, oh no. She's a drop in. This is probably her second attempt ever. If she manages to cast this patronus, it'll be PURE LUCK.
